Kind of scary...

Epcot's Soarin' temporarily closed for urgent maintenance
May 04, 2012

Epcot's most popular attraction, Soarin', has been temporarily closed for urgent maintenance. Yesterday a guest managed to exit the glider prior to take off, which has now raised questions about how the guest circumvented the restraint system. Although there were no injuries, Soarin' at Disney's California Adventure has also been closed pending the investigation. No word yet on when the ride will reopen, but with Test Track also closed, you can be sure that Disney will be working flat-out to get Soarin' back in the air.

The main Theme Parks forum is reporting that Soarin' is open again this morning.

It is really mindboggling the kinds of stupid stunts that people will pull.:sad2:

I'm not seeing anything in the news about anyone pulling a stunt. Someone's harness came open and they were able to get out. Sounds like a system malfunction, not some shenanigans.

Any updates on the status of this? Sittin in the airport now and was hoping to do Soarin this evening.

I know when I took my niece on Soarin' for her first time, I forgot to loop the seatbelt through the leg strap and I had to get a CM to unlock it (special panel) so I could thread it through.

I'm sure I also recall the CM's having us pull on the strap to show it was safely buckled.
