Soarin' - can you wait for a front row?

Does the glider have end-caps? Is it just an open bench with lap belts? I am not sure I want my kids on the end, 40 feet in the air with just a lap belt. Am I just too worried?

there are arm rests between each seat.

They also have a "crotch" strap that the seat belt goes through for small children and the sits are tilted back a little when you are Soarin' so I would really worry about it.

We rode it for the first and only time in June and asked if we could be in the front row. With us too, the CM looked a little surprised/hesitant, but then she said "Go right ahead." At the time, no one else had been put in that queue line, so we didn't have to wait longer. Now I'm spoiled with that row and won't want anything else, LOL. :goodvibes

The feet of most didn't bother me, but of course the person in direct eye view was one who couldn't sit still and kicked their legs the entire time. Very hard to ignore.

Everytime we've rode on 2nd or 3rd row ALL the people were swinging/kicking their legs! And yes, you're right- it's very hard to ignore... we tried really hard though. LOL

I actually liked row 2 the best. The feet sort of made me feel like I was hang gliding with a bunch of people. It didn't take away from the experience at all. Row 1 has no feet in your view, but my eyes kept wandering to the top of the screen. It took away the realistic feeling for me.

I liked the middle row the best too. I like not being able to notice the edges of the screen at top or bottom. I have ridden in all the rows.

I wouldn't worry that much about what row you are in.

In May, I was in the 3rd row way over towards the end. :guilty: While I did enjoy the ride, I was bothered by the feet swinging back and forth. :sad2:

I have ridden Soarin twice. First row only. I apologize for the swinging feet. I couldn't help myself. I loved being so high up. We asked both times for the first row and the CM didn't hesitate to let us sit in the row. I plan to ask for row 1 when I go back in May. I will try to restrain my swinging feet.

Thanks! I'm going in May so if I see your feet swinging I'll remind you! :goodvibes

OH GOSH...I'm guilty  ...and I am sorry..the thought never even crossed my mind. I promise from now on to not swing my feet....

I agree with those who liked row 2 (middle) the best. Even thought there are feet above you, the screen goes as far as the eye can see. In the top row, I also found myself looking at the black void at the top of the screen. We got the 2nd row the first time and asked for row 1 the second time, but I enjoyed the 2nd row experience better.

Hey, everyone is different. I probably wouldn't ask to be put in row 1, but would go if that is where I'm placed.

Haven't had the experience of row 3 yet. Maybe in Dec, or next weekend if I go :cool1:

I asked for front row my first time and was told "no."

That was me swinging my feet! I never thought about it distracting you! They just felt so good that way. Sorry. I will never swing again.

I got very lucky and my first ride, without my prompting, was in the first row. Then the next time it was the second row and the third time it was the third row.

The second and third row are basically the same experience. It's not so much the feet dangling as it is the compulsion that people seem to have to swing their legs constantly. Most of the scene that is important is below the view line but I did find it quite distracting. The front row is wonderful..just a complete view with no distractions.

I was lucky in Sept when we went (I rode single) and got 1st row - I loved being up that high!! I only remember the smell from the orange groves what were some of the other smells and is it worth trying to get 2nd row (since I do not think I would enjoy 3rd row) I think I am spoiled by 1st row.

There is the smell of the pine trees, and the smell of the ocean too. :) AAAHHHHH I love that ride!!!!!!

Rode Soarin' twice last trip - 1st row, didn't have feet, but didn't get the smells either! A bit of the orange, but that was it. 3rd row, had feet, (no swingers though) but also had the orange, pine, and ocean smell (although the ocean didn't smell very oceany to me, was very close to the pine smell!)

I was lucky when i went on Soaring .I did not have to ask because the Cm placed me into the line for the 1st row.

Since our trip is for 12 days and we plan on hopping to Epcot several times, I think the best thing to do is to try all three rows and judge for myself. If I do get to do that, I'll be sure to post when I get back.
