Hi: Has anybody who gets motion sick or suffer migraine headaches tried soarin yet. I am curious if they got sick from it.

My daughter and I definitely want to try this ride next trip but we do not want to be laid up for the rest of the day.

Deb.

I have motion sickness, fear of heights, and claustrophobia. I did Soarin' a couple of times in California and did fine. I had to do some breathing and really focus because I was afraid that I would get sick but all turned out fine. There is good air circulation which helped.

I am the queen of motion sickness. I had to walk out of the movie "Open Water" because just hearing the water lapping against the boat was making me nauseous. How bad is that? I don't do spinning rides though I did try MS twice but like you put it I was laid up the rest of the day with a spinning head. Soarin' did not have that affect at all. I loved it. I am also afraid of heights so we tried the 2nd row first. Soarin is our new favorite ride. A lot of times we skip Epcot (sorry we are MK lovers) but now that they have Soarin' it will always be a place for us to visit. If you get a fast-pass for this ride go over to Living Seas and check out Turtle Talk with Crush it is so cute. Seeing even grandparents laughing was awesome "Dude!".

I was afraid to ride Soarin at first since I don't do well in some IMAX movies but I had no problems whatsoever. Its just the coolest ride.

Enjoy!

I cannot go on stimulator rides such as Star Tours and Body Wars...I get so dizzy by the time the ride is over. I rode Soarin' several times last month. There is only 1 scene that gets to me a little. It's a night scene and all you see are car lights racing everywhere. Must be downtown Los Angeles or another big city at night. Other than that I was perfectly fine. I did go on 3 times in a row and by the 3rd time I felt a little "off," so I suggest one ride at a time. Have fun!!

Hi: Thanks for the comments, I also get sick at the imax theatres.

I forgot to mention that I too have claustrophobia, is it a huge open building that you are in, instead of a small similator type thing or tunnel?

I can do pirates of the caribean and not feel claustrophobia there. But I did carousel of progress which I love, but when the cm left the building when the ride began and let us ride it out I felt a little panic coming on thinking what if I wanted to get out were the doors locked or not, lol.

Also can you request to be put in second or third row?

Deb.

There are 3 sections, 3 rows each with 6 or 8 people per row, the rows are not very close together. I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. I tend to get dizzy on rides like this, but the 1 or 2 times I felt dizzy on Soarin, I turned my head and looked at the wall to sort of regain my balance.

I felt very ill after Mission: Space and can't do Body Wars or Star Tours anymore but have had no ill feelings after Soarin'. I've probably done it half a dozen times between DCA and Epcot now.

I usually get sick from those overhead shots of a helecoptor flying over a large city and I did sorin just fine. Loved it! I was so afraid of not enjoying it but everyone just told me to shut my eyes if I hated it becuase you will be taken totally out of it. Never had to do that once.

Since I was there alone with my five year old I had to bribe her to go on it. She went and on the way out she was so proud of herself... said "Mommy I did it and I didn't even close my eyes once!"

Soaring isn't at all like Star Tours or Mission . Star Tours moves your 'vehicle' up and down and sideways. Mission spins you around a center core. Both use 'visuals' to make you feel you are taking off into space.

Soaring is more a visual of hanggliding...so swooping over water, mountains.
A grown kid with Down's was in line behind me and nervous, so I asked if he liked flying and his dad said yes and I told him he'd most likely love Soarin..but then when I rode it I was trying to experience it 'as if' and I realized that the swooping part (tho that is entirely visual...you are not really swooping) might scare a few people, especially those afraid of heights. My sister is afraid of heights but loved Soarin...so go figure.

THe 'swing' you are on glides up and down some, so I would probably advise you to get into #3 which is the lowest off the floor. #1 is the highest off the floor. If you ever did that long ago Kodak 3d movie with the kids and the music that stayed forever in your brain...in Imagination theater and before Michael Jackson's 3-D ....it feels a little like that did.

Hope you risk trying it out and that you love it!!
I do!!!

My wife is very prone to motion sickness, and she did fine on soarin. Her stomach felt a tiny bit uneasy after the city street scene, but nothing bad. Actually, that scene made me a tiny bit dizzy too. The film seems to shake a bit during that one scene. But again, it's nothing that bothered any of us. If you are really worried about it, take a dramamine or something, because you CANNOT skip this attraction. It is amazing.
