Just wondering,

We have been to DW tons of times, and we are going to Califonia, I have always wanted to do the "Soarin" tour LIVE!!..

I guess what I am asking is can anyone tell me any of the places visited in the soarin ride?

where is the free way scene at the end filmed? The scene with the surfers? Any of the scene locations would be greatly arrpeciated.

PS I know the last scene;)

I'm not sure of the fwy scene, but it looks like the 110 FWY going threw downtown LA. I'm not sure what direction.

as for some of the other areas, it covers the whole state. from Malibu, to San Diego. to Palm springs (Where the golf course is) Sorry I can't help you on the northern california stuff :)

Just pulled this from wikipedia. Not sure if it's specific enough for ya:

The attraction takes 87 guests at a time on a simulated hang glider tour of the Golden State, flying over San Francisco, Redwood Creek, Napa Valley, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Palm Springs (actually shot in nearby La Quinta over the golf course at PGA West), Camarillo, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego, Malibu and Los Angeles. The ride ends with a flight over Disneyland at Christmas, with a Christmas parade traveling down Main Street, U.S.A., decorations on Sleeping Beauty Castle, and fireworks.

Lake Tahoe is where the skiers are. San Francisco and Yosemite are self explanatory. Napa Wine Country is also in the first part. I'm pretty sure the freeway is Los Angeles. I think the planes taking off are near Edwards Air Force Base where the space shuttle lands. I would imagine that such a Soarin' live trip would take around a week not including time spent in Disneyland itself. Travel time alone, you're looking at 3 hours from Tahoe to SF, 4 hours from SF to Yosemite, and 4-5 maybe even 6 from Yosemite to L.A.

The horses riding through the desert (and the fighter jets above) are I believe Anza-Borrego State Park, way in the southeastern part of the state. DH has been there, but I haven't. I've been to everywhere else on the Soarin' trip except Napa Valley.

Someone on the theme parks forum just mentioned that a friend of hers who lives near the orange groves told her they are tearing them down and making a subdivision, so you'd better do that part of your tour soon.

Thats a bummer. I wonder if we could get all the Soarin' spots protected a national landmarks? lol :confused3 :rotfl:

The surfers are filmed at Malibu, I believe. The rocky coast is off of Monterey.

What a shame about the orange groves. :sad1:

The 110 freeway/downtown shot is going north bound.

Out on highway 126 in Ventura County between Magic Mtn. and The Pacific there are orange groves just like that too.

I think the badland shot with the horses and fighter jet is Anza-Borrego State Park out by the Salton Sea. It is right in that area of Ocotillo Wells and Anza-Borrego, I've been miles out in the badlands there and had fighter jets do fly overs just like that, very exhilirating!

Not sure exactly which resort the skiers/boarders are on, it looks like Sierra at Tahoe or Squaw Valley or a couple of other places.

The rocky coast is definitely the Monterey peninsula around Pebble Beach on the 17-mile scenic drive.

That last shot I'm pretty sure was taken in Anaheim on Main Street USA but it could have been Marceline, Missouri circa 1910...

The scene where you fly over the aircraft carrier is in San Diego. Ive only been on Soarin once, So I really didnt study where every scene was from as I am a born native of California.

I would have sworn that the river is the Russian River in Northern California. Hmm and as far as the rocky coast it could be any where on the northern coast. It is sad about the orange groves, all in the name of "progress" I guess. That happens far too much here in California.

The christmas scene at Disneyland was filmed during one of the cast member Christmas parties. Quite interesting to see a helicopter make multiple low flying passes down Main Street then swoop up quickly before the castle. Look for I'm down on the sidewalk between the candy store and coke corner, lol.

DH's coworker and his wife (CM) are in that shot too! I always look for them. They're at the end of Main Street on the left.

I have never been to DCA besides the during the holidays. I really thought that the Christmas scene was played during the holidays and regular Main Street would be shown the rest of the time.

This upcoming trip will be our first trip NOT during the holiday season!

Soarin' is my absolute favorite Disney ride ever!

I love the Monterrey Coast. It really is that beautiful!

And yeah, it would take a very long time to see all those sites in California.
