I will be aroud 3 months pregnant  when we go to EPCOT. I would like to ride soaring but am unsure if

1) ...I can fit, as I am already a pooh sized person and the added bloat of early pregnancy will add to my girth?

AND

2) ...if there are any times that there is pressure on your lower tummy area during the ride sequence?

It doesn't sound rough as all describe it as a gentle ride but I don't want to be strapped in and find out after the fact that I shouldn't have ridden it.

TIA for all your help.

I think you'll be fine. :sunny: Actually, there was a CM there, working the ride, when we went who must've been about 7-8 months pregnant? Another CM said she went on the ride a number of times (he was talking to a guest whose pregnant wife stayed off the ride thinking she couldn't go on). I don't think there'll be any problems whatsoever.

I think you will be fine with this ride. While I am no medical expert, I did ride it and it was very gentle and relaxing. The seats are lifted at the beginning (not too terribly high) and then they just slightly shift with each scene. The seat size and safety belts seemed to accomodate all kinds of shapes. My husband can't normally ride anything where the seats move in front of screened images (motion sickness sets in) but this is one of his new favorites. I don't know if the flying feeling would bother you in your condition, but as I said, I found it to be a gentle and rather exhilarating ride.

Relax and enjoy. Soarin' is a gentle ride with wide seat areas and a lap belt (but no tummy pressure).

We just got back from Disneyland, at the time my wife was about 11 weeks pregnant. Everything was perfectly fine. The ride is so smooth, it's probably more gentle than riding in a car. Cool ride too.

Thanks so much for the information. While I'll have to skip my beloved rollercoasters, I'd rather be pregnant than get to ride the coasters and rough rides, I wanted to try some of the newer rides. Obviously Mission Space was out  but I was hoping to ride Soarin.
Thanks again for taking time out of your busy days and helping me to plan.

I can tell you that once when I road Soarin at Disneyland I saw a very pregnant woman ride. The CM's just jokingly told her that delivering babies was not part of their job description. I know that over on the Disneyland side of this board this question has been asked with varying answers. All I can say is that they let this gal on the ride no problem. As for fitting, I am a pooh sized girl myself and have had no problems. You will enjoy it I promise!

Well, if you're already used to Morning Sickness.... ;)

I am sure they have warnings posted for this ride....but it is really gentle and shouldn't be a problem at all. They just have to post the warnings to prevent lawsuits. I wouldn't worry about this ride at all.

Yes, I noticed that they have warnings posted for all of the rides. They need to protect themselves from lawsuits I guess. Again, I'm looking forward to the vacation and appreciate all the information and encouragement from you all.

Oh, and an update - our appointment was moved to the next Monday :guilty: , May 2, 2005 as the doctor that we were to see is one of our old OB's and I didn't know that he was at this practice now. Needless to say, we had a few disgreements- He is very FAT PHOPIC- I was overweight to start off my last pregnancy and he had a fit, and embarrassed me- on my very first office visit- it made me feel very bad instead of excited about my OB appointments. I have hashimoto's hypothyrodism, diabetes type 2, chbp and asthma. I have weighed between 215 and 230 all of my adult life no matter what I've done to lose weight. I do, however, lose weight while pregnant??? and I don't even try?? :confused3 I guess during pregnancy MY body works right and all systems work together to help strike a balance for the baby :flower: . I haven't been and will never be a model size person. So we cancelled that appointment and told them that we needed to see another partner. So now, I have to wait another week- but I will go to the appointment without any worries about his phobias :p .
