Just got back from 10 glorious days and we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes because there was no fast pass for Soarin on EMH nights. I mean it was alright but really not worth all the hype? Any additional thoughts?

Goofyfreak,

We went to Epcot on our 3rd night there (Aug. 22) to meet up with some of our family that had dinner there and it was EMH nights. They had informed us to when we went to get our bands to wait until 10 or 11pm so the wait wouldn't be so long and the crowds would thin out.

Well since they had no Fast Pass for Soarin everyone had the same idea we did. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. I was expecting a little more I guess especially the way everyone raved about it on these boards.

We went again on Thursday morning, had breakfast with the Princesses in Norway and by 1030am headed over there to get a Fast Pass. We couldn't get one until 600pm. We had to leave to go over to MK for dinner so we missed out on going on it again. I might have liked it more.

Well I'll have to try it again next time round!

:earsgirl:

It was a good ride but I felt much overhyped. Glad you had a nice visit.

I wasn't as impressed with it as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong, it is a cool ride and I would do it again but I liked other rides better.

I thought Soarin was amazing and not overhyped at all.
But I'd never wait more than 30 minutes for any ride.
It seems to me that any 2 minute ride would be a disappointment after waiting an hour and 20 minutes.

I feel like the last poster - I LOVED Soarin' (I've seen it many times at California Adventure; I will get to see it in October for my first time at WDW), but can not imagine waiting for any ride more than around 30 minutes.

When I go to Disneyland, I go straight to Soarin' in California Adventure and grab a fastpass. I usually try to get one more fastpass each day before leaving.

As much as I love Rockin' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Big Thunder, etc., I think all would be disappointing after such a long wait!

I can't wait to smell the oranges over the orange grove in October... :cloud9:

We LOVED it and not overhyped. however, the most we waited was 10 mins. We headed right there in the AM and walked right on. We then got a FP and went on a couple of other things, came back and walked on after 5 mins (didn't even use the FP). Another day, we went right there and got on in 10 mins and then got the FP again. This time, used the FP but waited a whole 5 mins for it. We were there the 21st - 29th (August)

My 13 yo DD and I loved Soarin' ! I would have stayed on it all day :flower: It was exhilerating and yet calming and soothing. I really felt like I was flying. I saw different things each time, and I know there's discussion about the best rows or seats, but on our three rides I never had a bad seat.

I can't wait to Soar again in December.

Great ride BUT as with most everything that Disney comes out with that is new, it was WAY overhyped. Really the fans on these type sites are hyping it more than Disney.

I mean really, it is great but the hype would be nearly impossible to match.

Just wait til you hear the hype on EE, that should be a doozy!

DH & I were disappointed. I think it is way overhyped. It is a neat ride, don't get me wrong, but I didn't think it was as great as everyone is saying. We even went on it a few times to try different seats.

I haven't been on it yet, but as others have said, I think 1 hour and 20 minutes is way too long to wait for anything. I think the longer you wait, the higher your expectations are. Plus, I just don't like to wait in line.

DD and I rode it in June and when we got off, we just looked at each other and said....
"Oh, well, that was nice!"
We liked it! But we wouldn't wait to ride it.... it would either be FP or not at all. Maybe 10 minutes if we were tired and just needed a relaxing ride in the air conditioning.
IMHO... way too much hype! :earseek:
It would be great for the "family" ride! If you have the small ones and grandma and grandpa with you... perfect for everyone. :goodvibes

It WAS overhyped. Our first ride, we sat in the front row, right section. We scored it as a "we would not wait more then 10 minutes for this ride"

Other members of our party hadn't ridden it yet, so we went on a second time. This time we were front row, middle section. It was a MUCH better seat, so we re-scored it to 15 minutes.

It is a neat premise, but really, that film needs to be in hi-def. It was grainy. Also, when we watched the first time, there was a large area at the top of the screen that the picture was not projected on. It was distracting. The second time the canopy of our glider covered that spot. I am hoping that after the celebration, they may change the film to Florida. No basis for this, I just think it would be neat.

We just got back from WDW on Sunday. We were travelling with another couple that love soarin', so in the course of 8 days we rode 7 times. We used fast pass, or went at the end of the day with minimal wait.

We just arrived home yesterday. We waited only like 15 minutes for soarin' and we liked it alot.

Add me to the list that thought it was GREAT!

Well here's what I think is not fair to Disney:

First of all, Disney was not the one overhyping this ride (though their advertisements are always a stretch of reality aka: TOT, RCRC, Alien Encounter, etc). We, or rather, some on here are the one's that overhype it. The people that are among the first to ride, come back and blow it out of proportion. It's not fair because then when you ride it and dont get what you heard in the hype, you think the ride sucks (not all but a few).

Remember when you go to go with an open mind. My recommendation would be to simply learn about what the ride is all about and not read the reviews.

At the same token, some say attractions suck when you may like it if you didnt have a preconceived notion. I personally didnt think Stitch was that great but I did think it was cute and completely undeserving of the label of people bashing it.

I think Soarin is great, personally. However, it does not live up to the hype. However, look at it without any preconceived notions and realize how spectacular that attraction is.

Anyone that says it is no good is really not pleaseable because you dont find attractions like this in very many places in the entire world.

Remember, not everything has to be scary, or thrill generating to be great.

Is it overhyped though? Absofreakinglutely!

I absolutely loved Soarin! It's definitely on my favorites list and I can't wait to do it again next trip. That being said, I wouldn't wait an hour and 20 minutes for that or any other ride. If I waited that long for anything, I'd probably be disappointed that it was too short when it was over.
