Last night just decided to take a Mother/Son trip with DS16 and we're thinking of trying some new choices for dinners that we've never been to.

Thinking about Spirit of Aloha or Hoop-De-Doo. I've read various reviews. Would making an ADR this late affect your choice due to seating arrangements? We'll be there at the end of January.

The one reason I am thinking about the luau is because the Polynesian is his "dream" resort. Unable to get ADR for Ohana's. We're staying at OKW.

Thanks.

i would have to recommend Hoop De Doo. In January it could be possible that the luau is canceled if the weather would be too cold. Booking late can effect seating however with it only being the two of you its possible you might get lucky as they may need to fill a table. You still could visit the Poly for a quick break from Magic Kingdom or before or after going to the Hoop De Doo revue.

As much as my family really enjoys SoA, I would suggest trying it during a different time of year. That outdoor setting while beautiful can be awfully cold during the winter months and like other posters have mentioned if it gets too cold the show will be canceled. We thought about booking ADRs for SoA in February in 2010 and we decided against it. So glad we did, too. It turned out to be SO cold while we were there.

HDDR definitely. Then you could keep checking for an Ohana dinner until it's time for your trip. I would much prefer a dinner at Ohana vs. SoA. Keep checking back for that Ohana reservation. I snagged one 4 weeks prior to our trip back in May. :goodvibes

I would do the HDDR also. We do it every trip and always have a great time. The one time we did SoA, DD fell asleep and I didn't really enjoy it either. I would do the HDDR and keep trying for something at Ohana's or Kona for the Poly.

We reserved SOA for a time in March and it was cancelled due to cold weather. I would do HDDR in January because SOA is likely to be canceled.

Thanks everyone! I just was explaining HDDR to DS16 and he's OK with it. We'll try Ohana's in June when we go as a family - our ADR window opens up on Christmas morning so we shouldn't have a problem getting an ADR then. Need to book early cause it's a busy time of year and there will be 8 of us.

Looking forward to HDDR.
