MIL came home from rehab on Sunday. Monday at 1:30 a visiting nurse came to check on her and she had a temperature of 102 and could barely sit up (we saw her Sunday night and she had a slight cough, but seemed okay). Nurse called for an ambulance and she sat in the ER (or a hallway near the ER) for nearly 12 hours before they finally admitted her. Finally this morning we find out she's got the flu AND a slight case of pneumonia. No doubt, she picked it all up at rehab. She's back in the hospital for at least a few days.

So, I would appreciate your good thoughts.

Sorry to hear about this Jennifer. Some of those things are so hard on the elderly.

It doesn't help that she's diabetic, so everything hits her harder and takes longer for her to recover from. My DH is just stressed out. :sad1:

nd, I'm SURE they didn't give her anything to eat while she sat in the ER :( Poor lady!

that's awful, hope she feels better soon :goodvibes

I am sorry to hear about your mil. How much less strsssful it would have been for all of you if they had checked her lungs before sending her home from rehab. I will keep her in my prayers.

Goodness, that's awful! Sending you and your family lots of prayers and pixie dust!!

Jen sending you all thoughts and prayers over the course of this. Hang in there. Hugs my friend!

Thanks everyone. I'm sure she's where she should be for now. Hopefully, she'll feel much better soon.

Sending prayers and pixie dust to you and your family. Hope she is feeling better soon!

P&PD - elderly relatives are a big worry

Sorry to hear of this setback. I hope she recovers quickly. You and your family are in our thoughts.

So sorry to hear about your MIL, Jennifer...

Over the years I've spent way more time in the ER with my parents than I care to remember. My Dad would get so stressed out in there so I felt that I had to stay right with him until he was admitted and as you know, that could sometimes take many hours. Whenever I drive by MRH these days I still feel a bit stressed!

I hope that she recovers quickly and will be back home soon. Take care of yourself and your family or you will all get sick too. I am still working on getting my health back on track after all those years...
