So You Want To Be First Do You??? Its Lasting!!

Yup! I should take "before" pictures. This will be the dirtiest unit I have had to deal with in my 5 short years of being a landlord. Fran has seen worse. She was a heavy smoker. You can see where her pictures were on the wall. The kitchen is disgusting.

At least there's nothing structural. But sometimes the cosmetic stuff takes forever. Are you planning on putting in a new kitchen?

Yes, Princess! That's me!

I have finally revealed myself to the "Everlasters!"

Hope I didn't scare anybody :thumbsup2

Kathy

Ditto! You're very pretty!! Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the photo Kathy :)
No you didn't scare anyone....

PIO is the scary one :duck:

Dissing from work. I think there is a whole 10-15 of us. Quite nice actually. No noisy meetings beside me like the past two days :headache:
Although doesn't bode well for working swiftly... :lmao:

Glad people like the pictures. I loved the trees.

The reason they aren't in the house is because at the time George Washington lived there Trees were not a tradition as they are now. However they have a lovely new visitors centre where they had all sorts done for each 'room' of the house.

For anyone planning to visit it is a production line the tours.
We were unsure about visiting...then a groupon came out...but when we checked the details it meant you couldn't pre book a time. So who knows how long you'd be waiting once you go there for an entry time.
But it prompted us to book for sure.

Back to the production line...GO EARLY...as they just push you through each room like a production line. Your time is the 'earliest' you can go in but is 'valid' all day. The house very quickly gets crowded as people move in their group from room to room. The third floor was open when we went (not always the case) and so to do this your group goes up....looks around...comes back down...then has to fit on the landing with the waiting group. Tight...sardines...comes to mind.

BUT...it means more people get to see it.
I can't imagine how bad it is in summer though

As the day progresses a line forms down the path (beside that lawn in front) as people wait to go in....so GO EARLY!!

We added the "National Treasure Tour" which takes you down into the basement as well as guides you a bit more around the grounds showing you where things were filmed. If you are going to visit...add this. You may as well. You're already there :lmao:

Also...parking gets packed very quickly. When we left all the parking close by was full. Don't know where you'd end up.

When you finish you go back via the other part of the visitors centre which has a nasty "way too over commercialised" element. A "food court" with not just a variety of cafe etc independent food stuffs. But a Pizza Hut :sad2:

Erm...back to work :rolleyes1

:wave2:

...and LAST! :thumbsup2

And Tired.....

Such a strange feeling at the moment. Crates all over. So much stuff being packed up. Deciding what can and can't go...

There was an oh woe moment going on by one group having deadlines next week... during Monday discussions ...and complaining if things weren't all fully set up at the new office...but none of them are here today :confused3

And PIO...is scary... :upsidedow

Here's a question....

Is it a bad idea to even contemplate putting a 600ml bottle of coca cola (unopened) into checked baggage? Will it just explode?

I've taken liquers and other spirits (in glass bottles) in checked baggage before like Midouri and bubblewrapped and amongst clothes they've survived perfectly. No leakage or damage whatsoever..

But as a carbonated drink is this a really bad idea? Even if I put it in a tupperware style container so no 'physical' pressure is applied. Just changes in air pressure.

We have special edition 'named' bottles at the moment and given weight isn't an issue I'm wanting to take a named one or two with me as gifts...and it would look better as an unopened bottle

On an airplane? I think it has to be checked in the luggage. I would wrap it in some bubble wrap.

That's what I'm saying..
Plastic bottle of carbonated drink unopened
In a checked bag on an aircraft

Safe?
Pressure changes won't affect it?

:confused3

I'd put it in a plastic container so nothing 'squishes' it...
Just whether it would have any inherent issues?

I miss the days you could take liquids onto the aircraft with you :mad:

I would wrap the bottle in bubble wrap, stick that in a plastic container, and then tape it shut before putting it in a big zip lock bag. I've had things explode in my luggage (usually shampoo or body wash, since I'm allergic to certain perfumes and can't usually use the kinds you find in hotels) and it is not fun to clean up. So when it comes to liquids, yeah, I overwrap them :lmao:

Hi Queenie! I've never taken soda in my luggage, but when my nephew was serving in Irag & Afganistan, my sister always sent him several bottles of Pepsi in his care packages. She did it many times, so I guess they must have held up OK. I'm pretty sure he would have said not to do it again if they had exploded en route. Now don't hold me responsible if anything goes wrong! ;)

I'd guess it's risky. My DSis brought back a can of Coke from China and it pushed out the ends.

I'm not so sure the pressure was the problem, it may of frozen which expanded the water in the soda.

Thanks guy and gals :yay:

That's actually PRECISELY why I'm asking :lmao:
My flipping shampoo bottles can go pop and leak in my washbag :headache:

I'll definitely be putting it in a plastic container for this reason as I'm guessing it's bottles getting squished.

Ok. Sounds like it should be ok then.
I expect care packages go through a bit.

The Can's I'm equating with getting that kind of issue....
Put one in the freezer...bad idea

Just a plastic bottle. Seems ok
Will see how my weighing goes.
