Answers are up. I will be back in a little bit, back to the other place still reading on the ship.

Actually it only goes to 15 places so you can't have an answer, unless my "calculator" only goes to 15 places.

So how far can you recite PI from memory?

8 places. Through a trick about American history. Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. First city in America St Augustine in 1565. Freshmen math in HS. Who knew it would stick.

Pi = 3.14 15 92 65.

I think at some point it may be all I remember from that class. Since I have never needed to know when Columbus's first sailing was, or when St. Augustine was established either, it's just more junk in my head.

My third grade teacher offered various prizes for memorizing PI, for 50 places you got a snickers bar, 100 places you got something better and 200 places you got a Hot Fudge Sundae.

I got a snickers bar, here's what I remember:

3.14159265358979326535 posibily 437....but I don't know.

Ooops I got the last few wrong, guess I forgot my 4th grade stuff!

So I found this site with Dr. Evil

3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510 58209 74944 59230 78164 06286 20899 86280 34825 34211 70679

Okay, someone explain PI. Please?

Pi is equal to a circles circumference divided by its diamter. PI is about equal to 3.14 but it doesn't have a known actual value because the decimals go on forever without repeating. As far as man knows. Unlike 1/3 which equals .3333333..... forever, but that repeats. With computers Pi can be calculated to more decimal places than could ever be said in a liftime and so far no repeating pattern.

Days just drag... :(

Same ol same ol...
Trying to get it through that I do NOT wish to be spoken to by my brother is taking time. People keep returning to the previous deluded world of playing happy family.

Love my mum...but she's just not able to get out of this delusion. She claimed she realised just before I left...but anyway...

How's DS? Having a nice school hols?

::yes:: Nice school holidays for him.

Yes, that's right.

They must be big windows?

Thank you, will check it out soon.

Afternoon everyone, I'm enjoying the holiday.

Hope MLK day was great.

Skip the next part if you want to.....

Today was my colonoscopy so yesterday was a horror of time spent in the bathroom; far worse than the same 7 years ago! I was up for 24+ hours with no sleep.

Luckily the results are good and I am healthy and good for another 7 years. Doctor says I had a bad time with the prep solution; I say it almost did me in and I have a very strong stomach etc.

Oh, on to better things! I feel good now and am so looking forward to eating pizza in a few minutes!

I will go view your pictures shortly USNUZ! I love seeing other people's pics so I'm glad you got them up!

LAST!

 Sorry you had to go through that but YAY for the good news. And I hope DH feels better soon.

I thought this read " steaming diapers "

:rotfl2:

:scratchin I'm not sure if there is much difference between steaming diapers and steaming drapes! :rolleyes1

We're almost done at First Street, Fran will come up with any number of miniscule tasks to complete, but the major stuff is done!

Excellent news! Now to get people in!

Do you mean ancient Pi or true Pi or new Pi?

Ancient Pi = 3.142857 142857 142857 with the 142857 recurring to infinity.

True Pi = 3.141640788.

New Pi = 3.1464466.

Aren't you glad you asked that question???

Thanks PIO! DH is still feeling awful but won't do anything other than take meds. Typical for him though.

This discussion of PI reminds me too much of teaching :rotfl2:

But the 60 Minutes show on Sunday had that 13 year old autistic genius in Indiana who can recite PI backwards even! He taught himself everything in high school math when he was in elementary school so that he could take college courses. He just earned his BS and is going on to earn his PhD in Physics. He actually seemed pretty normal in most ways and had overcome most of his autism.

Last to post for now!
