Sleep as soon as you can. I'm thinking you had a super stressful day.

Well not SUPER stressful, but serving 3 day notices to pay tent or quit isn't fun (though we give one to this tenant almost every other month. Also planting plants is not my idea of fun, but the paying bills part is kind of cathartic. I like knowing that they are all scheduled and for two days before they are due so that we get the most interest on our account!

Evening all. Long day. Back is really sore even though our new chairs are about the best part of the new office. Ugh.
Was a pit pissed off during the last hour so maybe sitting a bit funny did something.

Noone in my family has ever DONE jury duty.
Mums job precludes her from selection. So dad was put as primary carer exemption. For children. And he's never been called since. Not sure why. But it's good.

Brothers job precludes him. He'll never be on a jury.
I've been called twice but gotten off without having to go in for being a student.

Sleepy.

I need some sleep soon, sorry it wasnt to good of a day. You should try to sleep yourself.

Hi All!

I did my duty to my country today and showed up for jury duty!

Thank goodness I didn't get assigned to a trial but it was close....I was number 259 and sat there until 1:30 pm. They called people through #240 to go in for questioning for trials upstairs.

Even though I had my Kindle Fire I was so bored I thought I would go crazy waiting and my office doesn't pay me for being there so the $15 for expenses barely covers my gas and lunch. So I'm in the $$$ negative for doing my duty.

OK, I'm over this!!!

-------

And I just read this weekend that warm milk doesn't help with sleep after all.

Ooops - Just heard DH ring the proverbial dinner bell!

Catch up tomorrow!

Kathy

Have fun! Do you know what the trial was for?

No I'm not having a good time with Arline, though I'm not being run ragged either.

 I hope it gets more fun when you're at DLR. Otherwise, May is going to seem an awfully long trip.

Coming back from a board meeting, sucks being back in command.

:grouphug:

Jury duty? I've been called up once. It was for a embezzlement case involving all 4 major banks in Oz. The trial was expected to run for at least 8 weeks and they called twice the number of prospective jury than they normally would. You should have heard the collective groan when they told us what the case was and how long it was going to go for.

They then asked for those who might want to be excused to move to a separate holding room. Then they started the selection process with those that were left to see if they could fill the jury.

Thankfully, by the time 3.30 pm came round, they told us we could go. That was the only day I was thankful that there were old fogies and bored housewives in my cohort!
Look at me now!!!!

The day started with 295 jurors (I was #259) and there were 6 trials but 1 went to continuance at 1:00 pm. They told us this was an unusual number of jurors to be called in and I was glad I had a high number since they start calling people from the bottom up to go in for selection. None of trials was supposed to be over 3 days but since I would lose pay for any time out of work I did not want to be there at all!

I felt like I was sitting in a germ incubator; everybody around me was coughing, sneezing and sniffling! I came home and popped Vit C and am hoping I stay well after this experience! My office is small with 5 people and we're a bit spread out in the room and we take care of ourselves.

Not to mention that getting through the courthouse security took 15 minutes. It was worse than airports years ago. We actually had to turn on every electronic device and get wanded front and back; what a PITA! Some people knowing that they would be sitting all day brought a laptop, tablet, and smartphone. Some women had to take off their earrings and jewelry as well.

The nice ladies running the jury lounge we stayed in all day profusely apologized for the long security lines. I think the security checks come from a couple incidents years ago when angry estranged spouses tried to sneak in guns to divorce and custody hearings. I was so tired from doing nothing all day I came home and slept for an hour! :rotfl2:

At least in our county doing your "day" gets you off for at least three years or so. In one sparsely inhabited county elsewhere in our state you have to report every day for a month for jury duty!

How are doing usnuz? Did DH take notes?

Alison - We loved Monterey when we drove through that part of CA. It was my fav part other than DL!

I can't imagine being a landlord. My brother was one for awhile and finally sold his townhouse when the market improved. He had a tenant literally leave in the middle of the night and take the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher with him! The security deposit barely covered the replacements.

Anyways - I'm back to work and will try to work a 13 hour day to make up for the 8 hours I lost yesterday.

Jury duty can be very hard to deal with, went through a case that involved a jury trial.

I am still trying to get better.

Havent gone to class yet, tomorrow night. I need to pay attention if I am going to learn. Husband is not good at note taking.:rotfl:

I guess I'm lucky that I haven't had to show up for jury duty. Some how I've gotten out of it.

It's amazing what crappy tenants will do to a place, luckily I hope that Fran and I pick pretty good tenants who won't run off with the appliances.
