You hit the dis at the right time, now its slow. Dumb Dis! Not much here, how is work? How is the weather? We need rain so bad and it is not coming. Hope you have a great day at work.

Dana. Awesome cake. I wish you could earn money with those skills. The cupcake place I love has had hiring signs out everysooften. It's just a shame you weren't even able to get a foot in the door at places like that.
Wishing you all the best at the new job. What are you planning to study later on?

I think I've missed something about your dad. Maybe you discussed it elsewhere. I'm sorry I don't follow many threads.
I'm sorry your dad has given you a hard time about things :sad2:
It's such an awful position to be put in.

Thanks :) Honestly, I don't think I could do it for a living. I'm concerned about my love for it diminishing if I'm doing it every day as a career, and I also know that my carpal tunnel would just get worse. I have moderate carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and it's been flaring up lately. I'm planning on going to school for secondary education, to teach high school English.

I owe my dad some money. He likes to pretend that he can control me because of that and dangles it over my head whenever I want to do ANYTHING with my money besides give it to him. I'm giving him a large chunk of my tax return, but he wants the whole thing, which he's just not getting. Any time I talk about wanting to do something that's a little pricey (like my now-cancelled trip to Disney this coming October), he threatens to kick me out if I do it. I wanted to get a car to make finding a job easier (all of the jobs I heard from until September were out in the suburbs and impossible to access on public transit) and he threatened to kick me out. Now my ex wants to sell me his car in the spring for the lovely price of $20. There's nothing wrong with it, he's just under the (incorrect) impression that he won't get anything for it even selling it for scrap. But, hey, if he wants to sell it to me for $20, that's fine with me :lmao: That's the only reason my dad's okay with it, because Mike's selling it to me so cheap.

Yum! I love making roses too. I used to make them at the weekend when I was working in the ice cream shop. The frosting was a very soft/firm frosting and easy to work with.

Yours look great. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for the gamer's meet.

The teacher was really surprised at how fast I got them down :lmao: I just picked up a can of the pre-made frosting from the cake aisle (it's specifically for roses and such, but can be watered down for medium or thin consistency) and used that.

I can't wait for the gamers meet, either!

Thinking about the neighbor and cats reminded me of some pets I know and knew.

My friends cat is old. Really old, and something it did was rough because it has lost a lot of teeth. But it's super friendly.

So it goes outside and approaches people on the sidewalk or house nearby. It will sit mew until they pet it. People see it has no teeth and think it's been abused or abandoned. So instead of calling the number on the collar they call the police to get the dog catcher. Several times this fat cat has been picked up never more than 100 feet from its own house.

This happened to Darcy's neighbor, they had to pay $50 to get it back no less!

The DIS is so slow, it took 3-4 attempts to load each of the pages I was reading.

Yes it is taking forever, but I don't think the webmasters are doing it intentionally.

OK, I'll jump in, it seems better. Tuesday is the lonely night, no one seems to be on until after 11PM. :sad2:

I started a thread about this, Mary Jo responded and I in turn asked her if she knew anything, but I havent heard back yet.

where did you start it?

I looked at the one on the main DL board which was there for a few days and today was moved to the DL community rooms. Some people mention the server migration which I got a message about in December. How long does it take? Really? I've been involved with hardwear switches before and it took less than a day.

Also alll of my six month old PMs which I was told would be deleted are stilla round. I've had to clean up my PM inbox several times since, since it keeps getting back to 100%.

Yeah, Fran's father was so proud of himself that he never let anyone do anything for him, so he never owed anyone anything. Funny no one asked why her parents didn't have a funeral. We donated his body to science and only a few neighbors came by as we cleaned out the house and asked what happened to him. No one cared.

That so sad. Sorry to hear about the witch trouble too.

As for my office. Thank you for the kind words. It's just so frustrating.
Our office just finished completing the interior fitout of the headquarters of one of the largest companies in Australia. It's amazing. It's light and bright. It's warm and welcoming. We are also doing the Sydney head office of that huge company with a website most of us use daily.......you can figure it out.

But what I walk into is a disaster.

I know how skilled some people in this company are. But we're all suffering. Even the flipping coffee machine is broken. :(

Two small steps forward today. Last week, it was 5 gigantic steps back.

You two are welcome to borrow my mantra...I love my job, I love my job. It's not quite working for me yet, but I keep hoping. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for all of us.

Nieces and nephew went home tonight so it's not so crazy around here.

I'm at band, I've spent most of the evening responding to a PM. I've also had to play a lot, not much rest. My chops hurt.

Back when I was young I worked at a place that did building design, construction and maintanance. I sat at lunch with a couple of the company's enigneers and stated, "Why does the AC supply cold air to the storage area downstairs and the office is always hot up here? Couldn't one of our construction guys fix this?" It must of sounded rhetorical. They just looked at each other and let out a tiny laugh. I figured I said something stupid being the new guy with 3 weeks under my belt.

Later that day I was getting some air on the shady side of the building. One of those engineers on the way to a job site pulls in front of me and wind downs the window. He calls me over and says,"The reason our building is crappy is because the boss will nickel and dime our customers, but won't spend an extra cent to make us happy".
