So You Think You Can Dance?

I recorded it and watched it while running on Treadmill this morning. Looks like a good show!

And NO I not only do not think I can dance....I KNOW IT!!

(Hey--I remember electric boogaloo!!))

And they did have a trained dancer get through--the chick that was to go to beijing on tour with 59 other dancers.

I was highly impressed with the blond who was going to Beijing, the jazz dancer who got through on the first day, and the girl from Pittsburgh (just cause I feel I have to support the hometown girl ;)). I was really happy they let the bigger kid through! He could really move! I was totally impressed with him.

I really liked the show a lot! My favorite was the girl in the brownish dress outfit who did a ballet type dance to a song loaded with drums. Talk about flexibility! I also like the heavy set guy and thought he had some great moves.

Paula Abdul is going to be on sometime during the season so that should make it just that more interesting.

DD and I watched and liked it. I really liked the "rather large" fellow that made it on to the next round! He could really move!!

Wasn't planning on watching because I thought it was going to be boring, but after channel surfing a bit, put it on. I actually really liked it and will now watch it throughout its season.

As for the Julliard male dancer, I did think his dancing was lovely, and thought they should have moved him on to the next round. That being said, thought it was so odd that he was "shocked" to hear someone say that he's not masculine or that his dancing isn't masculine. What?!? Hello! Perhaps his perceptions are skewed because he's in a dance-world, but come on!

Like others posted, got a "yikes" feeling when the hostess called the 29 year old's male friend her Dad. We were all thinking it at home, but that's right up there with asking a chubby person "when's the baby due."

Think my favorite is the heavy guy and not sure of my fav. female yet.

Ok, bumping it back to the top! Who watched it last night? I was really impressed with a lot of the talent. The girl and the boy who were best friends were wonderful. The guy was the better of the two IMO. :)

I enjoyed it as well. And I do believe some people got through who didn't have training. Next week looks VERY interesting.

I totally agree that that boy and girl who were best friends were awesome. I could not stop watching the guy- he was incredible. I still am thinking about him today. :goodvibes

I really enjoyed the show. I like dancing though. I liked the best friends and the street dancing kid with the spikey hair. i also really liked the kid who had to change his pants. He talked about his uncles and cousins made fun of him for dancing. I was happy when he made it.

I think the overwhelming majority of them have some dance training. I think some of the hip-hop and breakdancers may be without formal training but they have a lot of experience.

Ok, first let me point out that I am watching this show under protest, as both DD and DW outvoted me. :teeth:

That said, the "Freaks" last night scared me. :scared: What did that one guy have through his lip, a railroad spike ? :sad2:

The "best friends" were both incredible dancers, so I was glad they made it through.

I was really shocked that the idiot...er...the guy that came in on stilts and the guy that came in on roller skates actually knew how to dance. I've been conditioned by watching Idol to expect people that pull stunts like that to, well, stink up the joint. But they both actually did pretty well.

And going back to last week, I cracked up when the guy said, "What you don't think it's masculine to do this:", and then proceeded to do a move I've never seen another man do. :rotfl: I could care less if he's gay or straight...but he's certainly never going to be described as "masculine". :teeth:

I agree, definitely not masculine, although his, er, "tights" made it ABUNDANTLY clear that he was a man.

Alright, I'm bumping my thread every week because I want to talk to people about the show cause I LOVE it!! :)

So last night here was what I thought:

1. Jessica "hip problem girl" - she could have not annoyed me more. I have seen so many people get "injured" when they can't get choreography. Suck it up, admit you need to work on it some more, and DON'T LIE!! She would have got more respect from most people if she admitted it.

2. Alan "Big Poppa" - I was really glad he made it and really sorry that he had to room with Blake and Pancake. I can't even imagine.

3. Blake - WHAT IS WITH THIS GUY!?!? I was so happy when I watched next week's previews and saw Danny ripping into him about the judges watching the tapes. If he's so incredible, why does he need the show???

4. The Irish dance girl (whose name I can't remember right now) - I felt bad for her, but she is so trained in a specific style its' hard to break out of that - especially being so tall.

5. Burgendy - she pretty much scared me.

I would have given my right arm to dance with those choreographers. It looks like such an incredible experience. Mia's lyrical contemporary class would be amazing. I think I would fail miserably at the hip hop, but it's nice to watch people who can do it. :)

I am so, so, so glad that Jessica and the 29-year old who will do anything for celebrity are gone. I was clapping and cheering when I saw those two go.

Blake annoys me to no end. Can't wait to see him on the spot next week.

Big Poppa really gave it his all.

I thought Mia seemed a little strange. I would have enjoyed her class though.

Seemed like a very tough 6 days.

This show is so bad that it's actually good, LOL! Last night, I was glad to see fake-Britney Spears go. She has no talent and no training. Um, how is she a dance instructor :confused3 Burgundy was frightening. I was so afraid that she was going to take someone out with a flying arm or leg. Also, what was the split humping move that she did when she was "freestyling"? Freaky. The fake hip-injury girl was really annoying...no big loss there. That very tall Irish dancer was just so out-of-her-league with regard to the choreography. I felt bad for her. For the record, I'm glad that the 2 heavy guys are still in it!!

Really enjoyed last nights show once they actually got to the dancing. I didn't agree with the judges on everything they said; I thought, for the most part, everyone did really well.

Right now I think Michelle and Jonis will get the boot. I couldn't believe how well Ryan did last night!! From the rehearsal footage I was prepared for the worst! I'm so completely addictd to this show!!!

I think you are right about Jonnis but I'm hoping Sandra goes. She seems like a nice person but I think she is the least talented of the bottom three girls. I voted for Artem last night. I had no problems getting thru so I hope that isn't a sign! :(

I thought Ryan and Jamile were great! They did such a good job dancing a different style. I can't wait for the next show!
