So you have an extra $500, what do you do?

My family (of 4) and I are heading to WDW in a few weeks. Through the graciousness of a family member, we have some extra money to augment our trip.

We have 7 day park hoppers already and will be there for 7 days, and currently only have plans to go to the 4 parks.

We have a 15 year old DD and a 12 year old DD.

So, possible options we are exploring -

A) Keys to the Kingdom Tour

B) AK Wild Trek Tour

C) Some combination of smaller tours - UnDiscovered Future World and/or Marceline to MK

D) Go to Universal for a Day

E) Some other unknown option - Legoland, Gatorland, etc.

I know those last two may be heresy on this board/forum, so my apologies.

I would appreciate any opinions you have.

Thanks.

If your DD's like thrill rides I vote for Universal for a day. I've never done Keys to the Kingdom, but have done Marceline to MK which may be boring for the girls. I have done the backstage at the Land which was very interesting.

I think either the AK Trek or Universal given the ages of your kids. Or you can just use the $500 for the unexpected that is going to crop up.

I personally love the Wild Africa Trek. I did it for the first time two years ago and went into it dreading it because my mom planned it and I had to compromise. I ended up loving it. I am a big animal lover so it was really cool to be inside the safari. I think if your daughters love animals I would do that.

Universal is also a good option, we went for a day our last trip and I am kind of sad we don't have the time or money for that matter to go this trip.

Like another poster suggested, I'd do a day at SeaWorld -- so great for the whole family. You can get advance purchase tickets for $79 pp and if you don't have a car you could use uber to get over there and back. It's my favorite Orlando park and I always visit when in town (I really like Disney too, but their parks come in second.).

If not interested in doing that, I'd just save the money in your vacation fund for your next trip. I think the special experiences at WDW are overpriced and not worth it. Universal/IOA is worth doing once if you are a big Harry Potter fan -- very nice actually, but I prefer SeaWorld and Disney parks. If you have always wanted to go to Universal, though, that is a good option too. I usually go for the park hopper one day tickets to do the train which I think is one of the coolest rides, though, and they are quite pricey.

We really liked the Wild Africa Trek. I recommend either that or Cirque de Soleil at Disney Springs, which is the best Cirque I've ever seen and which will permanently close at the end of the year.

Memory Maker. Yes, the photographers will take pictures on your phone, but you will get more pictures if you have them take pictures with your phone and their camera. If the $ came from a family member, they probably will want to see pictures.

And if I were the one who gave you the $, I would want you to spend it on this trip, not save it for another trip you might not take.

Since you already have 7 day hoppers I wouldn't leave and go to another park. I think I'd do a nice meal.
