Okay, I admit it, I am considering Nine Dragons. Doesn't anyone eat here? Is is part of the Disboard oath to avoid it at all costs? Can anyone report anything positive, or can someone at least explain what is so bad? :confused3

Oh it's fine! I've eaten there many times. There just seem to be some places (and they change over the years) that 'love' to be hated. Go...enjoy! :)

I ate there. NOt bad,not great..It fulfilled my urge for chinese food

well for one always stops by at Nine Dragons, I enjoy their dim sum and love their service... we have celebrated 2 bdays there already and they always have given us a 5 inch cake.. not just a cup cake... so with that they are A Ok in my book.. plus I love their drunkien chicken yum!

Our group of 11 ate their last August. We enjoyed it. The kids had sweet and sour chicken without the sauce. It was like chicken nuggets. I am a very picky eater and I liked it. They were also very accomodating for our large group.

I have never dined there, but I'll share what I know. A few years ago 9 Dragons was a most reviled restaurant--i.e. bad quality food. Over the past 2-3 years, things seemed to have improved. The main complaint I recall is that people can get comparable or better quality food for much less money elsewhere. Of course that could be said of almost any WDW eaterie.:earsboy:

It is the only restaurant at WDW where I get sticker shock. And I am an original New Yorker with almost 35 years living in the Washington DC area.

I have eaten there, but I can get as food Chinese at home, so not really special to us.

We were at Epcot late one night and hadn't eaten in a few hours. We were in the China pavillion and thought: "let's see if we can get a seat at nine dragons." We walked in and were seated right away (this was about an hour before Illuminations). The service was incredible and the food was very good (which surprised us because of the bad reviews we'd read). We got out and walked out of the restaruant and found a really good view of Illuminations which started just a few minutes later. It was a great night and we have 9 Dragons on our list of repeat restaurants to visit on our next trip in May '07. It's a good to very good Chinese restuarant from someone who grew up in SoCal and has enjoyed top notch Chinese. I recommend it. Enjoy

I agree with this statement. Even us in fly-over-country have local restaurants with food as good or better than most WDW eateries and for less money. JMHO

We thought it was good - nothing much to write home about but def good service and food. TONS of food.

We can get all the different foods offered at WS back home but that doesn't stop us from eating at them.

I have two very picky eaters. Every vacation they request Nine Dragons. I have always been happy with the food and the service. If you find out why it's on the thumbs down list, please let me know. My family gives it a

Enjoyed a great lunch on last trip at Nine Dragons. :goodvibes I think it is much improved over last few years. :thumbsup2

Chinese is our favorite food and this was the worst chinese food we have ever eaten. It was gloopy and greasy. Beautiful restuarant shame about the chefs. I would rather spend the money and take a taxi to Ming Court on I drive for delicious chinese in a Superb restaurant.

DH loves their honey sesame chicken so we eat an early lunch there on Epcot day every trip, then pick one of the other sitdowns for dinner. We always ask for a window seat so we can people watch and, depending on our timing, sometimes we can watch the acrobat show while eating.

I'm surprised about the stickershock comment -- the prices aren't that far off from our nicer sitdown Chinese restaurants in CT. Granted, if you go to a whole in the wall joint, it'll cost you less, but you pay for the food quality, service and atmosphere, too.

We loved it. It was the only restaurant at Disney that we actually left feeling like we got a decent meal for our money. It was still ridiculously expensive for what it was, but at least it was decent food. Every other place we've eaten there, we leave feeling like we'd just been had.

My husband and I loved it. It is a beautiful place, and the service was good. I would love to go back there, but we are doing a "try all new places" thing, and won't be going back. I have to say that I am a little sad about it :-)

Ate at Nine Dragons a few years back - I'll kind of echo most of the previous posters sentiments in that I thought the food was fine, just similar to what I can get at home for a lot higher price. I've never been to China - so my opinion on this cusine is limited to my American-ized version of Chinese food. The restaurant itself is quite nice in terms of decor and service. If you are absolutely craving americanized chinese, then you'll be fine. If you are expecting out-of-this world authentic chinese, you might be disappointed.

Here is our review; it was fine, but not thrilling. For us, there are so many fantastic WDW restaurants that we don't waste time on those that are just "fine."

Our server, Fanzhe, was very nice and personable. We ordered the pork & shrimp spring rolls, then had the Lunch Sampler Platter for Two. We started off with wonton soup, then our entrée, which was a sampler of 3 items (and was HUGE), arrived.

The Cashew Shrimp was okay, but not great or memorable. The shrimp tasted a bit fishy. The Canton Pepper Beef with peppers and onions was quite good. The beef was tender, though a bit fatty, and it had an interesting flavor. Last was the Honey Sesame Chicken, which was my favorite. The chicken was only breast meat, so it wasn’t stringy or tendon-y like less desirable portions of chicken. It was quite sweet, and we both enjoyed it.

For dessert, we each had a fortune cookie, which we both agreed was the worst fortune cookie we’ve ever had.
