Not me - but they are trying. I work from home. I'm an accountant - so they spent their entire Easter break "going to work with Mom". DH drives for a living & youngest DS would drop out of school & accompany him 24/7 if we'd let him. The older one never wants to ride along with his Dad - too boring. HOwever, when he thought he could get out of school for the day, he was more than willing to go. So they will both be in school that day. We told them we take them out for Disney trips & that's it.

We can't take kids to our jobs. Also, every year our childrens school sends home a long note begging parents NOT to take the kids out of school.

I just realized.....
I just replied to the post about taking kids out of school for vacations, which I have done, and the school has never, ever, had a problem with that, but they don't want parents to take their kids to work with them on "bring your kids to work day". Go figure!

Naw...we're taking them to Disney instead! :)

When is it? We haven't even posted anything about it at work...so maybe they are not having it this year.

I know our Take Your Kid To Work Day is April 22. I work in HR for Bureau of Reclamation and we are taking the kids that come on a tour and they get to talk with Engineers and see what we call "mini dams" that we built and they will be running. The kids should have a lot of fun, plus they get a goody bag with all kinds of fun stuff!!! The whole day is scheduled for them.

but that is school vacation week here so I will bring my DD 10 and my DS 7 will have to go to Rec for the day .

I take my DS out of school for week to go to Disney instead. They both think it’s a fair trade off ;)

Our district frowns upon it....it is no longer an "excused absense". Not only do the kids have to turn in a written report on what they learned at thier parents work, they must make up all of the days work they missed, plus homework. It's a shame as DH company only allows kids to see the workplace on this scheduled day, so taking kids in over the summer is not allowed. My kids really miss it, but the workload to pay for the day isn't worth it to them anymore.

My husband has planned to take our oldest with him. They have a whole neat line-up of things for the kids to do. But I guess I should ask his teacher first, never even really thought about that. He is such a good student that I don't think twice about him missing a day here or there.

Im glad to know the date. Thanks for posting.
DS was just asking about it recently and I thought its usually during their April vacation week(next week), but I wasnt sure. Hopefully Daddy wont have any important meetings or anything and he will take the kids off my hands for a little while that day. ;)

DD is too young but I'm coordinating the afternoon activities for about 50 kids. What was I thinking  .

there was a post last week talking about good friday being a "day of traditional low attendance" or something like that and hence the posters school was closed. some replied that the school doesn't get credit for the day with the state if they don't have a certain percentage show up so hence they put it on the calander as a day off. I am wondering if take your kids to work day was causing some schools not to have enough attendance and that is why it is now frowned upon. I also remember my sister-in-law saying how her daughter went to school and was really sad because she didn't have a work place to go to when the other kids did. I told her i would bring her to mine the next time (but the moved away). This could also be a reason it is frowned upon, not all kids get to go.
