So who has done the Fishing Excursion, and how many fish did you catch?

Just booked our fishing trip, for our up and coming trip in June. My grandson and I are looking forward to this. We will be picked up at POR at 10 a.m. The deal is: I reward him one Disney Dollar for every fish he catches. Last year he just fished off the pier at POR and on one morning he caught over 10 fish. The excursion should be exciting. The waterways are stocked, and the fish should be much bigger. My grandson said "do not forget the tape measure, grandma." I will also be sure to have the camera, and the sunscreen and my hat. I guess I will fish also, even though I won't take any fish off any hook. I understand the guides are very helpful. So who has done this before? I will finally be able to fufill this promise made to my grandson two years ago to go fishing at Disney on a boat. We go rain or shine. I sure hope it is a warm and sunny day, and the fish are biting.

We went last June and had the time of our lives! All of us (5) caught large mouth bass and I also caught a large blue gill. It was the highlight of our trip! Our guide was Terri and he was SO good with the kids.

We have done the family fishing trip from the Polynesian. I, the mom, of course caught the most bass, about 8 I think. My dh and the 3 ds caught about 5 each I think. We are thinking of doing it again too for our upcoming trip. My ds love it. Expensive but worth every penny.

We have done the fishing excursions from the Beach Club and have loved it... My DD4 had a blast, I got really great pictures of world showcase from the lake with not a single person in the background, and my husband will absolutely not go back to disney unless we do the fishing excursion again. We all caught fish and the guide was excellent. He even let us stay out an hour longer than we were supoose to...

We are going the end of next month and are staying at the VWL. We already have the fishing excursion booked from the lodge. Can't wait..

I booked my excursion this morning because it is 90 days out from the day we want to go. 1-407-WDW-PLAY. The cost was $225. You can bring 5 people. They provide all the gear and bait. I believe some form of refreshment is provided. We are staying at POR, so the boat is picking us up there. They have other places they will pick up also. Birnbaum's book has this information, and also lists the other places that they pick up. I believe it is the Monorail resorts and also some of the Epcot ones. It is a little steep for fish you have to release, after you catch them, but my grandson loves to fish, and I know I will love watching him. Hope this answers some of your questions. This is our first fishing excursion.
