So who else travels with cash, at WDW?

If staying onsite, probably the only thing I use cash for is tips for the housekeepers and the rare times I use valet parking. Just about everything else is charged, but I do always have some cash in case there's a problem accepting a CC or room charge.

I'm planning on linking a debit card upon arrival to my specific band. that way no need for wallet at all, since park admission is on my wrist, along with the photopass ticket, and my debit card. what would wallet purpose be except maybe getting lost or adding weight?

I'm very excited about using the MB to act as my debit card so much easier!

before i had to carry cash.. i hated that always scared id drop some

You should always take an alternative way to pay, when/if the MB system goes down. You should also always carry ID on you.

in my opinion thats kind of a pointless system then you hype about how you'll need nothing then it breaks and your stuck? if i wanted to bring wallet i wouldn't use magic band to be honest that was the main part i liked about it lol not needing anything else

I carry about $50-$100 in cash for tipping (I am one of those people who tip not tipping jobs if you go above and beyond). Other than that it all goes on the MB.

Pretty much. But the PP is right. Too many stories about glitches to make it a good bet to leave all alternate forms of payment behind. And adults should always have ID on them.

what a bummer lol...
guess if we take a book bag or my walker i can keep everything stored in there that way at least if i need it i can get it within a little hunting lol

I guess we're in the minority?? We took cash for our recent stay since we didn't want to get dinged with the exchange rate that is added to our credit card. (Canadian here) We have a US account that we dump some $$ in whenever the exchange rate is good (there was over a year when it was either at or above par) and generally clear it out before we go. We paid cash for most tips, small-ish food purchases (snack items etc) and for the majority of our "things". We did charge the odd thing to our MB when it was just more convenient. The night before we checked out we went to the front desk and settled up our account with the cash we had left so that a mere $140.00 was left on our credit card.

I carry a small amount of cash, but charge everything. I find it easier to see how I spent my money. I do the same thing at home.

i could not imagine going without cash.

i use cash for all food/drinks/snacks i buy. (i'm usually on the dining plan but even so i pay for some things out of pocket and obviously if i'm not on the dining plan i pay for everything out of pocket)

i also like to have cash for tips at restaurants and for mousekeeping.

i try to look around at souvenirs and then just do one big purchase near the end of the trip and that is when i use my credit card.

i also like to pay with cash at airports.

I never bring more than $20 into the parks. Everything else gets charged back to the room, but I know exactly what my budget is and I'm not prone to over-charging.

We take some $ with us daily, but almost everything is paid with GC from Target (saving 5%) or with our Disney Visa (2% Disney Rewards back). We do not buy a lot when at the parks so really do not have to worry about over charging. Until I can get cash back from spending cash, I do not think it will change:rotfl2:

I do cash for meals and small purchases, at first because it kept the price "real" for me, but now because it takes forever to get the slip, sign the slip, have the slip picked up. Whereas I can hand the waiter cash and be on my way.

Big purchases , which are rare (although this time I got a HM Dooney) get charged. But then I always use my card, not room charges. I like to see up front that everything is as it should be, not get a shock the next day or once I am home.

In short, I like to keep my finances as much under my control and out of Disney's hands as possible.

I like the idea of then charging it to MB pay it off end of the day, might try it next trip.

I look for every opportunity to rack up the reward points, so I only carry a little cash.

Agreed- I rarely have more than five dollars in cash on me at a time- those rewards dollars really add up

I use the DDP but would always bring $200 or so in cash daily. I have a fear of something happening, where I would need it. This is also me in everyday life. Grocery shopping, going to a restaurant. I always bring cash just in case my credit/debit card doesn't work.... It drives me crazy but it's an actual fear of mine.

I'm a cash guy too. I brought enough Disney gift cards to pay for food at Food and Wine festival just to keep from grabbing cash every 10 minutes.

We bring various forms (gift cards, bit of cash, cards, once even old travelers checks) just in case another form doesn't work. It came in handy when I lost my credit card at Disney a few years back and had to cancel it with only those other forms to see me through the rest of the trip.
