I was lucky enough to get home in time to see most of the 5-8 PM "Preserving the Past" show on QVC today (part of their "scrapbook day" stuff as mentioned in an earlier post by pattyt).

I got totally lucky and got in on the Anna Griffin Alphabet stamp set... that thing sold out soooo fast! I also got the little make your own "shaker box" type things by Scotch. Did anyone see those? I thought they would be neat to use.

So what did YOU buy today???

I'm a masochist. There's no way I'm spending any money on "neat stuff to have" until at least June....but I really, really wanted to watch QVC today! I can't believe I forgot all about it! I didn't see any of it - of course that's probably a good thing! I'd have had to order a couple of those shaker box things from Scotch. ;)

I got the Anna Griffin stamps, card making kit and the sparkle pens....I really wanted the big AG kit but I want her video that she has and that one didn't have it.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I originally posted so you all WOULDN'T FORGET about it -
and I forgot about it :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I did way to much running around yesturday to get ready to leave and totally missed it - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: just as well now I won't feel so quilty when I buy that Wilderness Lincoln Log Set that I REALLY wanted last time but didn't want to take on the plane (were driving this time)

I forgot too! I was in and out all day and then I had to pick up both DS's from different sports at different times and it just went downhill from there. I like to watch the show, I don't really order, but keep a list of things I liked in case I see it somewhere and then I know what it is. That is how I discovered the 3D crystal lacquer.

Can someone tell me WHY they start at 12am....I tried to stay awake for the Anna G. stuff but she didn't come on until 1am!....do they think only people on the west coast scrapbook?....I wonder what the reasoning is behind that?

I wish I would have waited now...we are headed to AZ. this weekend and I checked the scrapbook stores there ...looks like scrapbook heaven! Can't wait! lol

Thanks for reminding me!...I am really glad I got the stuff I got ...I really like AG stuff.

I really liked the AG clear alphabet stamps, but I thought too long about it, and they were gone :guilty:

I got TSV and the glitter pens

I wanted the glitter pens, but they were sold out already. Plus, I haven't even told DH about the stuff that I did order so I guess it was good that I didn't push up my total with another item!

the glitter pens sold out the last time they were on too, so ordered them as soon as I saw them.

yet more questions from a relative newbie to scrapping: How often (approximately) does QVC run scrapbook stuff/shows? Do you all like the quality of their items. What about value....after you add S&H does it seem like a good value or can you do better with buying locally at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc.?

It seems to me like they have a scrapbook day about once a month/month and a half. If you get a copy of Creating Keepsakes magazines, it will tell you when they will have them. However, scrapbook stuff can be bought at QVC.com all of the time.

I think that they have good deals on things, even with shipping and handling. Also when they have their scrapbook shows, they have items that are new or kits that you can't find at the big stores/LSS yet (or at all).

For example, yesterday their "Today's Special Value" was this awesome scrapbook rolling tote with all of these wonderful pockets plus a paper holder and other organizer to match. It was comparable (but seemed better IMO) to totes by Crop in Style (like the Navigator) like you might see at scrapbook stores. The price on it was $67 (I think?) which was cheaper than I have ever seen Navigators/other rolling totes for.

The Scrap Tote was THE buy of the day but since I already have one, I didn't look at it too closey. I bought my case last Dec when it was on sale at JoAnne's. It's the Crop N Style XXL and was on sale for $53 w/tax.

I don't know if I missed it or what but I didn't see alot of 12 x 12 cardstock. Most of the kits, papers etc were either 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 which does me no good at all. I did see a kit that had pre cut paper that would have been great for bordering and accents but I really wanted some 12 x 12 paper. I really like the kit that had the words in circles and squares that you put a plastic/metal retainer around it....she called then "hugs". Was a pretty neat idea and really accented the page but I was afraid I wouldn't use it very often so didn't call in.

I watched from 8 or 9 in the morning until 1 cst. Had to leave at 4 for a Jamaica seminar so missed the portion that was in the evening. Maybe next time they'll have more 12 x 12 C/S to choose from. I'm more into stripes and matching solids than I am floral prints which I saw alot of. Making Memories and SEI are my favorites!

thanks for the answers guys! :flower: My mom used to be a QVC junkie, so I've always avoided it like the plague (my dad jokes relentlessly about the poor UPS man that was always visiting them!!). But maybe I'll have to check it out more often and watch for the scrapping segments/special days. I porbably could have used the item of the day~~~so far I've only invested in a backpack type thing for keeping my stuff in when I go to a crop. Thanks again!!!
