So which is faster, Boston Whaler or the pontoon boat?

Whaler. Not by much, they are all rigged with throttle governors. But the whaler is a more agile boat, more fun to pilot. Its smaller and you ride closer to the water which makes it feel faster.

Hope that helps.

Even the little SeaRaycers "feel" fast too, but that's just because the guests are sitting even closer to the water.

Thanks for the replies....wasn't really looking for just the "feel", was looking for getting the most area covered in the 30 minute rental. :cool1: I have a 24' Bayliner we run on Lake Erie, wish I could pull it down and put in the lake, save on resort costs :lmao:

Where are you going to rent it, and what do you want to see? In 30 minutes it's a bit of a press to see both lakes.

IIRC, the throttle limits are set at virtually the same point on all the Disney rental craft. By design they are all pretty much equally slow. None qualify as fast, that I know for sure.

Probably rent from the Contemp...run across the bridge and just do the "main" lake. Not to interested in old Discovery Island and the more natural areas, plenty of those to see running on Lake Erie....mainly want to get some pics of the resorts and what you can see of MK from the lake.

That'll work.

If you want even more time ONLY in the "main lake" ("Seven Seas Lagoon") rent from the Poly or Grand Floridian.

The "water bridge" is kind of unique, but it is strictly a "No Wake Zone" at "idle speed," so it can take quite a bit
of your rental time putt-putting across that bridge each way.

We have rented from each of the MK area resort marinas... with fun times each time!

The sea raycer seemed the slowest to me. I think because it loses so much not getting to strike up on the plane. The whaler felt this way as well but to a lesser extent. horribly nose heavy. The party barge felt like they always do, awful.

Also, there are break away strips all over the engine on those things. My whaler stalled and I wanted to try choking it with a hand over the air intake (works on my snowmobile) and caught hell when I got back to POR dock. My kiddo had video rolling so I could show them that.
