So, when do you know you're home?

Definitely driving under the main gate arch!!!

But also having pancakes at Perkins in the Crossroads center on arrival day. Why? Well, over 5 years ago when my DH and I were down for a couples trip and I was pregnant with my second, on our last day we went to MGM (DHS) and encountered the Parking Nazi hassling us over our AAA Diamond Parking Pass. I was driving and he would not let us in to where the AAA area was. I felt so defeated and in tears I turned to DH and said "Can we just go to Perkins for pancakes?"

Odd thing is, I had never been to Perkins (we don't have them in Chicago) so why I wanted pancakes there is a mystery to this day. But we went and I fell in love with Perkins pancakes!! Only at the Crossroads near DTD, though. I've tried the Perkins on 192 over near AK and they are not the same! Even conned my Dad into driving up to Milwaukee from Chicago one day and tried them there. Nope - not the same! Gotta be Crossroads.

So it is tradition to go to Crossroads Perkins for pancakes on arrival day of every trip since then!!! :thumbsup2

That's become our tradition for our final day! We go to Perkins (at the Crossroads) before we head to the airport.

Actually I really know I'm there when the twenty's start flying out of my wallet like leaves off the oak trees on a breezy fall day!!!:upsidedow

 EXACTLY. I remember telling my brother on his first trip, "Just
smile and open your wallet!" Otherwise, I knew he'd b*tch the entire time
about how pricey everything was and spoil everything! :goodvibes

the smell of the lobby!

That is it for me too. Disney obviously has a fragrence that is used in their lobbies. It just is mmmmm soothing and welcoming. It has been so long since we have stayed in a non DVC resort that I cannot remember if those resorts have this smell too, but all DVC resort have it.

:lovestruc

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That sounds like my DH.:goodvibes

For me it's watching my girls race to see who will find our room first. Then sliding our key into the door and walking into our "home":goodvibes

I have a few that make me feel like I am home like many others.

It starts at the airport, getting on the tram, then on the ME!!

Of course going under the WDW sign!!

The :welcome: Home at the resort!!

Getting into my room or if it's not ready heading out to a park!!

And since we always go to the MK first, it's seeing the castle for the first time!!

All of these together make me feel at home!!!

great thread!!!

Keep on posting guys!! I love this!! It is a warm and fuzzy without actually making the trip!! I can close my eyes and say "oh Yea!!!" It'll keep me going for a few more weeks until I can experience it on my own!!

We start to feel it on the airport tram....we always try to sit on the end ledge to get a better view of the palm trees...then the fountain in the rental car garage ( yeah I know, a little strange) ..and finally opening the door and out to the balcony to see what view of home we have!

What a warm fuzzy thread!!:grouphug:

As soon as we drive through the Walt Disney World arch when we arrive on property.

When we pull under the Wilderness Lodge sign, we are home:goodvibes

It's funny you should mention smells-when I'm at BCV, I know I'm home when the automatic doors open to BCV, I step inside, inhale deeply, and smell-I don't know what it is, furniture polish or something. All I know is that I stop and smile. QUOTE]

That is exaclty when I know I am home too....that SMELL!!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9:

We are staying at the VWL this time, so I am looking forward to a new experience. We have stayed at the WL before, and I do love the music and, if I recall, there also a "Disney" smell there as well! :yay:

For me it's stepping off the bus, being greeted by Art and hearing "Welcome Home"

I need to go "Home"

For me it's "that guy's" voice that is over every intercom - tram, monorail, on the rides...

A memory from our first trip, back in '96.

Driving from the airport toward the World and suddenly seeing the signs on I-4 directing us to the MAGIC KINGDOM RESORT AREA.

OMG! We're almost THERE! :dance3:

I still get a little thrill when we see those signs.

When the security guard...says WELCOME HOME!!!!! Love it so...and for some reason it always seems better at OKW for me.....hummmmm.

When I get on the tram at the airport, I know I'm almost there....when I see those purple, red and green road signs, I know I'm at WDW!:cool1:

I start crying everytime. My DH just looks at me like .
There are so many distinct smells! Especially on rides like POTC, HM, and Spaceship Earth. Sometimes I'll smell something that reminds me of Disney, and I'll immediately be taken to my "happy place.":rotfl:
Thank you!:goodvibes

OMG! Me & my friend always laugh about this! We will often call each other and say things like, "I just smelled Rome Burning!"

...As soon as we step into the MCO airport I start getting excited, once we get on ME I start getting more excited and by the time we drive through the WDW gates I then get teary eyed and I know I am "HOME". :yay: :yay:
