So What's Coming to the New Pleasure Island?

What a sad walk through we had. The new furniture looks like they resurrected the old furniture from CSR's lounge area. We had excessive time on our hands at the end of the night to go to Universal City Walk and wish WDW had an adult area for fun!

Someone posting on another website reports scaffolding inside the Adventurers Club last week with some artifacts being reinstalled ON TO the walls! I've not confirmed anything.

Wow... If true that would be huge.

I just hope it's artifacts, not blasting caps.

It has been a while since I have visited this thread and it still ticks me off what they did to PI.

Looks like they are still in treading water mode with nothing done in the last year or so, is that correct?

Oh man, that would be so awesome if that ends up happening. I didn't go (in spite of my better judgment) on my last trip and have regretted that ever since!

Well, if they indeed reopen PI, than I can buy more DVC points, but I've held fast on not purchasing more until I get the full vacation experience I was used to before closing AC and reallocating the points.

Well I was out there last night and did not see anything new on the walls. But it was dark and I could only see straight in. The yakoose is still on the wall and the chandelier is still hanging. I saw nothing else.

Any more news on Improv comedy coming back to PI? I like the AC but I miss my Comedy Warehouse!

Ug, what a complete waste of time and money --I don't know why they wanted to change it in the first place. I still miss the Comedy Warehouse!!!! Hopefully it will all be re-opened before yet another year (or two) passes by.

Please bring back the Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse, Disney needs some night life.

So any new news? Any more artifacts going back up on the walls? We so wish the AC would return...

No, the rumor about things being put back onto the AC walls was proven false. But the Kungaloosh drink has returned to the Island at both Laffers and PI Live Bar.

My latest story explains the rumored new pathway into the island from DTD Marketplace as well as the rumor about Mannequins & 8TRAX reopening next year.

Can someone give me a good general idea of what I can expect to see/do in the PI area when we visit this New Year's Weekend, Dec 31, 2010-Jan 2, 2011 ?

Construction still ? Anything to do there ?...deciding if we should even consider going there..we will be at the Downtown Disney area Doubletree Hotel..

Thanks

David

Based on the past 2 NYE at DTD (since the clubs closed), the answer is close to nothing. The place is jammed with people and it's hard to get a parking space, but there isn't anything special to speak of going on besides the normal shopping. There are no midnight fireworks, if that's what you're seeking. Restaurants are jammed. Keep an eye on announcements as maybe they'll do it differently this year. The Save Pleasure Island blog will cover NYE options a few days after Christmas.

The Boardwalk has been a fun place the past two NYE. Atlantic Dance Hall has a NYE party($fee); outside all the Boardwalk attractions are open and they were doing free line dance lessons in the grassy area outside the hotel. EPCOT fireworks are visible.
