I've now read three comments here insulting Stove-Top stuffing.

I happen to really like it much more than any other home-made stuffing.

Nothing really wrong with it. I like it for the most part, but it's not "real" stuffing. Just a flavored bread mixture that you stir up on top of the stove, and not prepared in the bird.

Some people are purists and think "stuffing" can only be called that if actually stuffed in the turkey.

some people dont like it, while others think its important to show there importance by looking down on other people

I don't think there's anything wrong with stove top. I use it in recipes. I don't think it's that much more difficult to actually make dressing/stuffing to serve with your Thanksgiving turkey, though.

Meh... I love StoveTop. That's what we're having tomorrow.

I like it too.

I like my mom's better (and I need to learn to make it!) though.

And those people would be wrong. Stuffing and dressing are interchangeable terms and the use of one or the other has absolutely nothing to do with where the mixture is cooked. As for me, I'm not the biggest fan of stove glop. 400 mg of sodium in a dinky little 1/2 cup's worth (prepared) is very high. Properly made stuffing from a good cook will blow the doors off of Stove Glop easily.

I admit to liking a lot of processed foods, but stovetop stuffing just doesn't happen to be one of them. I just like chunkier bread and fresh veggies.

I used to use Stove Top in recipes & liked it. I hardly cook anymore & the only time we have stuffing/dressing is at Thanksgiving & my dd makes a great crockpot dressing.

I don't think there's anything really wrong w/ Stove Top. In fact, we have a box in the pantry right now. We'll sometimes serve it as a side w/ dinner. We like it. :)

Additionally, though, like others have mentioned, since we're trying to eat healthier & more "whole foods," we really don't fix Stove Top as often as we used to - too much sodium.

And, for special meals like Thanksgiving & Christmas, I just prefer something, well, more special... like homemade cornbread dressing or some other kind of stuffing/dressing. (At Christmas, I sometimes make a sausage & wild rice stuffing w/ cranberries which is really good. I've also made a pineapple stuffing to go w/ ham before.)

My BIL actually prefers Stove Top to anything else, so we'll have both tomorrow - cornbread dressing & Stove Top stuffing for him.

If I want stuffing but don't want to go through the hassle of doing it from scratch, then Stove Top is fine. For Thanksgiving, we do it from scratch.

Personally, I've always liked the crunchy parts of stuffing baked in a casserole dish. I don't like mushy, so no Stove Top or from the inside of the bird.

I like to play with ingredients and we didn't eat much commercially produced things growing up. I mean, I didn't taste Chef Boyardee or Spaghetti-Os until my college days. That's a memory I'd gladly give up…yuck. Anyway, I think texture, palate exposure, and how it's flavored play a big part in each person's preferred foods. Nothing is "wrong", but when you really dislike something it's hard to imagine someone really liking it! I don't understand someone hating cilantro or ginger, preferring plain cheese pizza over yummy toppings, or ever eating Spaghetti-Os by choice. That goes for the crunchy stuffing corners!

We all have our preference esp for turkey day an I'm another who wants the real stuffin on turkey day...which is the 1 day a year I do pretty much everything from scratch.

Which is the main reason WHY I do turkey dinner with all the trimmings for just DH an I. I know how DH an I like everything an fix it that way over all we much happier goin else where esp to a restaurant EWWWWWWW

It's not my preference, but I don't mind it. I also like boxed mac & cheese. Not a fan of instant mashed potatoes though, I don't like the texture, which I think is a big part of why some folks hate instant anything, including stove top.

Nothing wrong with it, really. I make it a lot, but it's more of a quick side on a Tuesday night when I'm making a regular dinner. For Thanksgiving, I do all our dishes extra special, and Stove Top just isn't going to cut it compared to my baked homemade dressing with all the extras in it.

To be fair, with cilantro, studies have shown that people can have a genetic predisposition that makes cilantro taste like soap. It's not their fault. ;)

We'll be having Stove Top tomorrow. My family likes it better than "real" stuffing.:confused3

We used to enjoy Stovetop. But even before we went to a diet of fewer processed, we eliminated HFCS and artificial food dyes. Not sure why stuffing needs HFCS, but stovetop has it, so we don't eat it any longer.

This is me exactly. I don't like things in my stuffing. I've heard people put sausage and giant onions (blecch) and things that really don't need to be there.

Having been raised on Stove-Top, it is REAL to me. All of the other ones I've tasted are just too fussy.

I had Stove Top yesterday and I was disappointed I didn't make it with Brownberry stuffing mix. I didn't really like it ... Sorry.
