"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Good morning everyone!

Well, it is official. We ended up cancelling our reservation for Dec./Jan. It is a little bit sad since it's always fun going to see the Christmas decorations but oh well. I will have to get my Disney holiday fill through all of your TRs and then the Christmas Day parade on TV.

But instead of that trip, we now have TWO others booked. Yay! First one will be this August like I mentioned the other day. The second one will be next March as another spring break trip...who knows if I'll be able to go on that one but the cool thing about the March reservation is that it's the week of all our birthdays (mine, Dad's, and Emma's...our bdays are all within a few days :rotfl:).

I'm debating doing another PTR for August. I should probably finish this TR before starting a new one! We'll see though.

Have a good day!

Yay for new trips! I'm not sure how I feel about Saratoga Springs. We passed it on the boat to Port Orleans. We thought the theme was quaint-ish, but the rooms are the smallest of all DVC resorts, it's soooo big, and I've not heard good things about the bus service. What's your opinion?

SSR sure doesn't get a lot of love on the DIS which I never quite understood. :confused3 Saratoga Springs is our home resort so we've stayed there a few times though not in a long time (we've been lucky enough to stay at some of the other DVC resorts on our last few trips!). Yes, it is a huge resort but we never found that to be a problem and haven't had an issue with the buses. We love it there. Personally I am excited to finally be staying there again.:banana:

Sorry to hear about cancelling the Christmas trip, but the booking of 2 trips makes everything better. Where will yall be staying for these trips?

Dropping one trip for two sounds like a good trade to me! :thumbsup2

Loved all of your pictures from the savannah, the giraffes are my favorite too.

Horray for two trips! Your March birthday trip sounds like it's going to be a ball of fun! :)

Woohoo for two trips!:yay:

What are the dates of your birthdays? Mine is March 15th! I really want to go for my birthday but our spring break is late in April because Easter is so late.

Yay for 2 trips!!!:yay::yay: Sorry about canceling the Christmas trip but at least you get to go sooner!! That's so exciting!!:thumbsup2

Just amazing! I was telling my cousin the other day how much I wanted to stay at AKL and how the animals were actually there roaming in the savannah.

He couldn't get over it and couldn't picture anything other than a zoo setup with all the animals in their cages. Your pictures are incredible!

I'm sorry you had to cancel your Christmas trip but :woohoo: for two upcoming trips! :teacher: Like others have said, sounds like good math to me!

Congrats on the 2 for 1 trade Sarah! There are plenty of folks going around Christmas to give you a fix. Can't wait to hear what you have planned for the upcoming trips. :goodvibes

I love how there's a woman on the balcony in your first pic out of the giraffe pics. Really just a reminder that it's a resort and you stay that close to them as you said!

So lucky that you have another trip in sight!!! Haha, if I were to go again soon, just imagine how long it'd be before I finished writing those TRs!

Hi Sarah!

Congrats on the 2 trips!!!:cool1: What are your dates for August? We'll be there Aug 20-29 - would be great to try to meet up if you're there on those dates!

Ohhh - your animal pictures are amazing!!! My kids would LOVE that! To see the animals freely roaming around there - how great is that! Love the giraffe pictures, have a bit of a giraffe obsession myself! They're like my favorite animal.

Karen

Exciting news! August is usually the time we go to WDW and have always had a good time. It's really hot and somewhat crowded, but managable. Should be a great trip.

We are for sure staying at Saratoga Springs in August since the other DVC resorts didn't have a ton of nights available. Since it's still in the home resort only window for March we're booked there. Who knows if we'll try to switch at all or if that would even be an option since it's around spring break time.

Glad you liked the pictures too. I LOVE the giraffes.

Trading one trip for two sounds like good math to me! :thumbsup2

Yeah, it is nice and it's not like I've never been over Christmas before. I'm sure we'll do it again sometime.

Horray for two trips! Your March birthday trip sounds like it's going to be a ball of fun! :)

Ahh, I know, I have always wanted to go for my birthday. My birthday's on a Saturday next year so even if I only went for a couple days I'd be happy. :goodvibes

Woohoo for two trips!:yay:

Your birthday is my sister's birthday! Mine is the 12th, Dad's is the 14th, and Emma's is the 15th. It is a super busy week around here. LOL.

Yay for 2 trips!!!:yay::yay: Sorry about canceling the Christmas trip but at least you get to go sooner!! That's so exciting!!:thumbsup2

I know, I can't believe it's only 2 months away and it will only be 4 months since I was last there.:eek:

Just amazing! I was telling my cousin the other day how much I wanted to stay at AKL and how the animals were actually there roaming in the savannah.

haha, that is funny. It is pretty cool how the animals just roam the savannah. Love it!

I think the problem is that I just don't like the word cancel even though we just booked 2 other trips.

Congrats on the 2 for 1 trade Sarah! There are plenty of folks going around Christmas to give you a fix. Can't wait to hear what you have planned for the upcoming trips. :goodvibes

Oh yes, I have a ton of holiday PTRs I'm subscribed to. It's just a fun time to go even if it's crowded.

LOL yeah, that's why I'm kind of holding off doing a PTR. Who knows, maybe I'll start one anyway but it's taking a long time to write this TR.

I'd do two trips instead of one any day!!! Congrats!!!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Our dates are the 8th-14th. If it was last year we would've overlapped since we were there the 20-25th. Bummer we'll just miss each other. I would've LOVED to meet up seeing that it is your first trip ever!

If you have time when you go, maybe you could hop on over to AKL to animal watch. Otherwise it's all the more reason to go back. ;)

Exciting news! August is usually the time we go to WDW and have always had a good time. It's really hot and somewhat crowded, but managable. Should be a great trip.

Yeah, we found it was pretty doable last year so I'm sure it'll be good. We lucked out weather-wise last year...hopefully it'll be nice this time too!

Sarah has said this before, but the reason we are jockeying around with these trips is that her youngest sister wants to apply for the Disney College Program for next spring. If she ends up being accepted for the program, some of us would be taking a couple of trips down there to help her get moved in and settled, to visit, and to help her move out. I want to save up some of our DVC points for those potential trips. Because that program starts in January, it wouldn't really make a lot of sense to take a trip down there just a few weeks before she would be starting the program. The tentative trip in March would allow us to visit her for her birthday after she would have been there a couple of months. It also coincides with her college spring break, so we might go then even if she doesn't get into the College Program.

The August trip is largely designed to let the girls visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter shortly after it opens. I won't be going in part because I have taken 3 trips to WDW since last August, and I will be working as a marshall at the PGA Golf Tournament that week. I think the girls will enjoy not having their old man around bugging them.

Sarah,
I really enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the giraffes and hearing more about AKL. How funny that the CM kept asking you about snow, it is kinda hard to explain to someone who has never seen it. We do have a great zoo, just to let everyone know who reads your TR. Just in case they stop in Milwaukee for a visit. :lmao:
How fun that you will be going back to WDW in August, and that you get to see the Harry Potter World at US:cool1: I am sure your Dad will have a great time as a Marshall at the US open. That would be a fun thing for any golf lover to do.
I think you would have a good following for your PTR if you do decide to write one.:rolleyes1

Well, we'll have to go back to US sometime so you can see WWOHP. I'm sure Emma wouldn't object to that.

Glad you liked the pictures! I seriously could not stop taking them, I was just in awe that there were so many animals out at one time. When we've visited AKL we've seen a couple but never that many.

haha yes, to everyone reading, if you ever come to Milwaukee the zoo here is great! :teeth: My sisters don't really care for it but I always love going to the zoo. I think we might go on Father's Day since dads get in for free. :thumbsup2 Oh yeah, and there are baby tigers.

Dad volunteers at and/or goes to a lot of the golf tournaments so I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

If I start a PTR I'll be sure to let everyone know! Maybe this weekend.

yay! I'm glad we'll be in WDW at the same time in Aug :) I'm jealous you will get to see HP but I really don't wanna be there with all the crazy ppl so I guess I'll wait a year or so until it dies down since I'm not a huge HP fan!
