Hi Carol:
Wow, I like that idea. But who pays for shipping and do you take it to canada post and ship it to the United States or are there cheaper ways of mailing merchandise. Does it cost anything to put it on ebay?
Deb.
Hi Deb
First I started off by buying a book at chapters that gave me a step by step guide as to how to get started on ebay. I read it from cover to cover before I did anything. Once I had everything in place, I listed one item and it sold very easily. From there, I was listing 1 item per day or sometimes more
When you list on ebay there is a cost (approx $0.35 for items that are listed at $9.99 or under)
Should the auction take off and the bids go higher than $9.99 then once the sale is final, ebay will add a final fee) I would say it usually costs me less than $1 for $10 items. The fee schedule is available on ebay for you to see what it costs to list and sell. You are entitled to add 1 free picture to your listing. If you add additional pictures it costs $0.15
Re: Shipping..... Buyer should always pay for shipping costs

When you go through the listing process for your item, it will give you an opportunity to put in a flat-rate cost for shipping. If you are not sure how much it is going to cost you, then you can state that buyer is to pay actual mailing cost + handling (packaging materials cost)
I usually have my items pre-packaged so I know what the weight and dimensions are.
I use Canada Post for all my mailings (Courier is too expensive)
You can find out how much it would cost to mail a package to anywhere in the world by going to
www.canadapost.ca and entering the package dimensions and weight and destination.
When I create a listing, I always say in the description "buyer to pay shipping cost" as well as Sale is final. This way you hopefully shouldn't get people bidding/buying items and then trying to return them to you
I always describe my item in detail. It saves receiving lots of questions about the item and also I always put a picture, so that prospective bidders can see what they are getting
To make it easier for people to purchase the item, I also use Buy-it-now which means that someone who is really interested in the item and doesn't want to wait for the auction to end can purchase immediately. When I am creating a listing, I make sure that Buy-It-Now also has to be with immediate payment expected using Paypal.
I have a Paypal account set up to accept buyers credit- cards and the paypal account enables me to transfer funds into a small bank account that I have for my Disney trip
Hope this helps
Good Luck with getting started
You will get to Disney
