so....what did you get?

Now here is a little vent...please excuse this....feel free to skip over this part. Money was a little tight this year and I didn't go completely overboard with gifts for my DD's. What they did receive was nice stuff though and we are all quite content!!!!! Well my DD's friend came over today to play for an hour or so. I am friendly with the mom. However, she came over and for an hour went into huge detail over all the gifts their kids got...a segway ($3000-$4000??) and diamond this and gold that, and TV and VCR's and games and toys and Disney trips and other vacation plans, tickets to High School Musical and Ariel in NYC etc. ad nausium! I just smiled sweetly and uhh'd and ahhh'd in all the appropriate places. OK so the bottom line here is this....she came over specifically to tell me all this when she knows money is tight on our end...she ended up looking like she was bragging and it was a bit hurtful in that regard in my opinion. Am I being overly sensitive????? Another mutual friend is totally disgusted with her and her priorities and won't have anything to do with her anymore. :confused3

------------------------------------------------------

Consider the source - and don't let it bother you..

What's she going to get her kids next year - a jet? I feel sorry for the guy who marries those kids when they grow up.. They'll never, ever be satisfied because they will expect even more than what their mom got them..:sad2:

Thank you! (I some how missed this post). His honorary God-Mother gave him the new blankey (baby's first Christmas!), plus a Baby's first Christmas photo book and a rattle. :D

Daddy picked out the outfit :D

I am dying at your favorite gift. My kinda person!! :rotfl2:

Oh, my God! That is one cute baby!!! Cute outfit and blankie, too. :)

Her 6 year old, after checking out everything, decided the best gift for me would be...and this is my favorite this year :lmao: ....

...a whoopie cushion.

How did he know?! ;)

I just love kids. :)

I made out well this year. I sit here looking at the twinking lights, everyone else has gone to bed, and I realize what a fantastic day it's been. I'm blessed; I'm thankful.

I got...

from DS8 - a UNC Tarheels Tshirt
from DW - Simcity 3000 (I love this game and had lost my copy)
in Dirty Santa exchange at my parents' house - a foot bath :lmao:

All in all, a great and glorious day. And just think, in three weeks I'll be in WDW. :woohoo:

I had a wonderful Christmas...I spent last night and half of today with my family, then went home and spent the rest of the day/night with DF's family.
Everyone was super generous, as always.

I got a Keurig B60 special edition coffee maker!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted that bad boy for so long but couldn't justify spending the money. I'm so excited!
Lenox Mickey/Minnie ring holder for the wedding ring part of our ceremony http://www3.shopping.com/xDN-gifts_and_gift_baskets--couple-brand_lenox (3rd one down)
jewlery armoire
wicker toiletry holder for the bathroom
nursing scrubs
beautiful fleece bathrobe and slipper socks
pink pajama set
black and white flower tote bag
target, macys, and visa gift cards/money from my gram
serving tray/mitts/kitchen towels
red down throw blanket for our couch
all kinds of lotions/beauty stuff

My favorite gift was another Christmas with my dad...he's back in the hospital tonight but I'm so grateful to have these memories just in case...he left AMA after a week in the hospital/ICU with a crit of 14 (back up to 26) and blood transfusions because they wouldn't let him eat and he wanted to be home in time for the holidays. He's still bleeding internally and was short of breath and couldn't even stay awake between opening gifts but he refused to go back to the hospital....he slept most of the time...he's chronically ill (Hep C/liver spot) and I really want him to make it to my wedding. He's only 59. I really want him to be okay, but I'm thankful we had a happy Christmas together.

I got...

A stocking with tons of organic, dark chocolate
Two really nice pairs of gloves
A neckwarmer for skiing
A very nice personal radio for the gym so I can tune in to hear the audio on the TV shows...I have an MP3 player but previously had no radio and that drove me NUTS, not being able to tell what was being said!:rotfl:
A very nice Homedics sound machine with waterfall
A DVD of family photos from my mom
A bunch of DVDs including HP5 and all three Ocean's movies.:goodvibes
A beautiful framed portrait of my ds:goodvibes
Disney Dollars
Gift card to the movies to see National Treasure 2 the day after Christmas!:thumbsup2
Lots of other stocking stuffer type things
A set of Tinkerbell jammies from SIL
A set of very nice UNH drinking glasses from BIL who attends UNH:idea:
A 2 GB flash drive for transferring photos from other people's computers from my other SIL...this is GREAT because I am constantly asking my mom to make CDs or DVDs of the pics SHE took and send them to me later. This way, I can just put 'em on the drive and take 'em home and load 'em up on my computer.:upsidedow
Probably some other stuff I forgot about

Oh, and an all-expenses paid trip to DISNEY WORLD from MIL and FIL!:woohoo:

Christmas holidays, Santa and our family were wonderful to us!!! :wizard:

DH and I decided, rather than personal gifts we'd get the Panasonic cordless 4 phone bundle set for home and a new under cabinet Coffee Maker. Warning ladies, this is sometimes what happens after 43 yrs of marriage and collecting stuff!?!?! :lmao:

The kids had other ideas and as always spoiled us! Best ~ were portraits of all our grands and a small digital frame of grands pics for my purse. Nothing like being a cool techie Nana and rather than pulling out my picture wallet, I now can pull out my digital photo card of grands :rotfl2:!! DS had given me an 8x10 digital photo frame for my BD a couple weeks ago, so this senior is quickly having to become better educated with latest technology. :goodvibes

DH and I had been shopping for a new digital camera and were planning to buy one after the new year. However, that idea was laid to rest when the kiddos surprised us with a much better set up than we ever could have hoped for....a Canon Power Shot A650 IS w/Prixma Printer MP470 bundle. Needless to say, we are having so much fun learning what all these babies are capable of! :goodvibes

Other gift items incl. a Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS, $50 Olive Garden GC, a cozy fleece blankie, and a most beautiful red, white and pink mingled poinsettia plant. In the Disney dept we got our room ressie deposits confirmed for our upcoming family Nov WDW trip, $200 in our WDW piggy bank, 3 WDW guide books incl. the PassPorter, a sub to TGM's and an extra 2GB SD card for new camera. I also got a cozy M&M fleece robe I love, a cool 3D Disney globe puzzle and 2 Disney ornaments of M&M and princesses. I gave DH a ::MickeyMo vest and monogramed ::MickeyMo shirt. I'm probably leaving some things out...however I can definitely vouch we were given way too many sinful goodies in the foodie dept. ;)

Last but not least, the wonderful gentleman I do P/T daycare for his 2 little girls since their dear Mommie passed and we consider them part of our family, gave us a $100 CG to OutBackand a $175 CG to local spa.

Hope our Dis friends had wonderful holidays. DH and I are indeed very thankful and blessed! :worship: :love1:

I agree with C.Ann. These kids will have champagne tastes on a beer budget when they move out on their own. When they grow up, I'd like to be the repo man in their neighborhood but hate to be their SOs :rolleyes1 .

I'm confused. But ok, who was bragging about all the loot, mom or kid? If it was mom, I'd be tempted to drop the relationship. To defend her a teeny bit, sometimes one wants to be truthful about gifts/good fortune and that sharing could possibly come across at the very least as insensitive or even bragging/rubbing others' noses in speaker's wealth. (Do I really belive that? Nawwww...just wanted to think the best of someone.)

Be secure in the probably-true theory that your so-called "friend" financed all that junk on credit cards. They'll be paying for it for months and months...if not years.

agnes!

I got a set of pots and pans, set of knives, perfume, watch and a mothers ring that we "could'nt" afford on mothers day.

Thank you Junie! He is the light of my life. He is such a good baby. I am mad. I see we didn't wash his bananas off his face good enough  . You can't see it in the small pics, but in the big ones you can :sad2:

I am ROLLING! :lmao:

I just want to hug him up!!! You are so lucky!! Can I borrow him for a few days, pretty please? :goodvibes

I got 4 DVDs that I have been dying to have and a ton of gift cards to Olive Garden. DH told me to look inside one of the DVD cases because "he bought it used at Game Stop and he wanted me to make sure the disc was in there". It was along with two tickets to the Dancing With the Stars Tour coming to Tampa!!!! I screamed very loudly. I got a collectible Princess Diana plate (I still love her), two Diana books and a book that has receipes from restaurants, like Chili's Baby Back Ribs. I still have a SIL and my father to receive presents from too. Should be fun! My sons have a mini Toys R Us in our living room now. The only thing that will make my holiday season complete is one of those spas for my feet.
