My son is brought home everyday after preschool by another mother. We don't car pool. When I asked her to car pool she said she didn't want to but that she would bring my son home everyday. My younger son is usually still napping and so she's doing me a huge favor. She refused any monetary compensation just said she knows what it's like having a little one at home.

For Christmas I sent her family a Harry & David gift basket as a thank you. She said they enjoyed it a ton. I'd like to do something else at the end of the school year, but I'm not quite sure what can top H&D. Any ideas?

Do you want another gift basket type present or something different? If different, how about a gift certificate to a local mall or to a spa? If to a spa you'd have to find out if that's something that she'd enjoy (talk to her DH if she's married). That would be something that would be nice and relaxing for her since she is really going out of her way for you (ie, something she wouldn't have to share with her family :teeth: ). Or a restaurant gift certificate, if you knew where the family liked to eat. Of course she'd share that. ;)

We got a Mrs. Field's gift basket once, that was pretty dang good! :teeth:

I'd stick with Harry and David. Funny, my next stop is their site to order one for a friend for Easter. She's a good friend!!! :thumbsup2

Great ideas! Keep 'em coming! It doesn't necessarily have to be a gift basket type thing. Not sure yet if want it a gift just for her (spa gc would be a good idea) or for the whole family. You know, a Cheesecake Factory just opened here, maybe I could get a gc for that. Of course then I have to go into the restaurant to get it and I might just come out with something for myself. :rolleyes1

a spa gift certificate and an offer to babysit her child while she goes and uses it.

Dont re-do Harry & David, the spa idea & babysitting is great, or even a facial or massage if a whole spa day is too much....or put together a themed "Family Night" basket for her, w/ a local pizza parlor gift cert, a new dvd her family would like, or gift card to video rental place, make at home sundae stuff, a board game, etc....to show her you appreciate her family too!

You could do a car care basket too, car detailing, gas card, etc....

with the price of gas how about gas gift cards or restaurant gift cards.

I have seen alot of really nice gift baskets at Bath and Body Works that I would love to get as a gift...or I believe they will also make up baskets with what you personally select.

They can be pricy, but I LOVE Zingerman's

www.zingermans.com/

They have awesome baskets, breads, sweets and all kinds of neat stuff. Even if you don't buy anything, it is worth reading the website--makes me drool!
