So what are you good at cooking?

I love to cook and will admit to being a pretty dang good one!!! :) I am a whiz at soups and chicken. I just don't enjoy making desserts. I only make them if we are taking it somewhere. But I will tell you my Chocolate Kahlua Pound Cake will make you slap your mamma! :)

I make a mean honey-seared chicken breast cooked in white wine and rosemary :thumbsup2

I also make pretty good ribs (secret rub and sauce), coleslaw and fajitas.

My pot roast and mashed potatoes are always a hit and so is my cheeseburger soup.

cookies, cakes, pies, pastries and candies. I love to bake and Dh's crew worship me. About 3 times a week he brings in an assortment of breads, fudges, cookies etc. And I'm the birthday cake queen in my family. Whatever the character or shape and style I can work it out.

ETA: :rotfl: My nephew saw this and said "It just ain't your birthday until NawNaw (me) brings your cake" :rotfl: Dh said he knew I was a keeper when about a month after we met I made him a bed cake complete with nekkid Barbie doll on it. :rotfl2:

My specialty is "food with booze" according to DH. Anything that has alcohol in it I can cook well. I can cook a lot of things without alcohol well too though :thumbsup2

But to narrow it down I get the most raves from my:
- rum cake
- caramel cheesecake
- chicken saltimbocca
- trifle (also known as chocolate orgasm)
- mexican lasagna
- Italian lasagna
- meat loaf & mashed potatoes
- french meat pie
- chicken & tomato bake

I love to cook and bake. dh does most of it since I'm gone working 12 hrs a day but on the weekends I make up for it. My sister introduced me to Pampered Chef several years ago and go crazy!!! They have some delicious recipies. I love going to reunions and parties b/c everyone raves about what we bring. That makes you feel good. ds5 always asks for chicken broccoli braid...it is sooo good!!! I love the turtle cake... dh loves the swedish meatloaf...the chocolate chip sensation is also delicious... there are tons and tons of recipies that are just mouth watering.... ok, I shouldn't be thinking of food this early in the day :)!!!

Not to toot my own horn but I love to cook & bake and I am very good at it. My specialty I guess would be my tomatoe pie, it is a hit everytime.

Southern4sure, would you mind sharing your recipe with me? i would love to make this for my dh.

I am known for my buffalo wings, southern green beans, red beans and rice and other New Orleans style cooking. My gumbos aren't bad either :teeth: I only wished I had learned how to bake.

Those who make really good meatloafs and spaghetti sauce and meatballs, please, please share your recipes. I love these foods, but can not make them really good.

Chicken Enchilada dip (which is more like a meal than a dip) and Hummus are my two specialties. I also make a tasty Ranch Potato Salad!

I can cook pretty well, but I'd have to say my specialty is Creme Brulee. I have done both standard vanilla, and a chocolate creme brulee.

I do love to experiment with anything that could be considered a cooking challenge... but for some unknown reason, I can't do fried chicken!

I am known for my Death By Chocolate.
I also make a good chocolate peanut butter pie.
And cookie dough truffles.

I don't really have a recipe, but I can post my ingredients. I have a horrible habit of throwing things together with a pinch of this and a bunch of that. My meatloaf recipe and my meatball recipe are pretty much the same.

- 2lbs of ground beef. I've actually been using 1lb ground sirloin and 1lb ground turkey lately.

- 1 can tomato paste
- shredded cheese (usually the Italian mix blend - 1 bag)
- Bread crumbs. I prefer the Italian blend from a local Italian deli but any Italian blend would work
- minced garlic
- salt, pepper, oregano
- 2 eggs.

mix the ingredients together. For meatloaf put into a meatloaf pan. coat top with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. for meatballs, roll into balls and put into a pot of simmering sauce.

My sauce is even more of a mishmash but here are the key ingredients:
- extra virgin olive oil
- garlic cloves
- crushed tomatoes
- red wine
- a little bit of water
- dash of salt
- little bit of sugar
- oregano
- fresh basil leaves
I toss in a carrot (or a potato if none is available) to draw out the acidity

Tomatoe Pie (I really dont have a recipe but this is how I do it)

5-6 tomatoes..depending on size wash and slice (not thick slices). I put the slices on a cookie cooling rack with paper towels under it to catch the drips. Lightly sprinkle salt on both sides of the slices (brings out the moisture). I slice the tomatoes in the morning and throughout the day I "blot" the slices with paper towels to soak up as much water/liquid from the slices. I go through alot of paper towels. This is the best method that works for me otherwise the pie is soupy from the tomatoes.

Prebake a pie crust for a few minutes but do not brown it. Once it cools place a layer of tomatoes, sprinkle with basil (fresh is awesome), tomatoes, basil, tomatoes, basil until the pie crust is full. It is OK to mound a little.

Mix 1 cup of mayonaise, 1-1/2 cup of cheddar cheese..I like to mix in mozzarella and some parmesan and sprinkle in some italian seasonings. Mix well and spread over the tomatoes. Bake at 350 about 20-30 minutes or until lightly brown on top. Serve immediately.

If you have any questions just ask me. You will have to let me know how it turned out for you.

Pumpkin Rolls
Chicken Pot Pie
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
Pierogi Casserole
Stuffed Shells

I'm not much of a cook but lasagna is my specialty - YUM!

My husband loves my pot roast which is funny because all I do is stick it in the crock pot with some season salt. :confused3

I also make good bean and cheese enchiladas and good lasagna. Those are winter foods. I hate puting the oven on in the summer.

I love to cook, but I get into a rut and with little kids it seems like that rut has alot of mac and cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, and burgers in it. But I make a perfect oatmeal raisin cookie, a great pot of chicken noodle soup, and an awesome shrimp pasta salad.
