so, what are you drinking? (NON-alcoholic! :)

MIO--by Kraft!!! We mix it in water, milk, soda water and diet sprite. They make several different flavors. My fav is the Mango-Peach in water or soda water. My DS loves the sweet tea in water (he is a big tea drinker) and the strawberry-watermelon in milk. We like it better than crystal lite because it is liquid and mixes well and it is not made with aspartame!

Hi, my name is Tammie and I'm a Diet Coke-aholic! :rotfl:

I drink far too much Diet Coke. My kids give me a hard time. I know it is horrible for me but....

Anyway, I don't really have any options for you. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, although I would love to be able to say I only have one a day like some people here.

Question though, for those of you who gave up cola of whatever sort but changed to tea or coffee, other than probably less chemicals, what is the difference. It is still full of caffeine and not good for you at all? It's funny, i get comments from coworkers about the pop I drink but they constantly have a coffee in their hands. To me, there is no difference, a caffeine addiction is the same no matter what form it is in.

I stopped regular diet coke cold turkey when I was pregnant with one of my children, switched to Coke Zero. OMG, my hands shook so bad for 2 weeks I could hardly use the mouse on my computer. It took me a good week of that to figure out what was wrong with me (withdrawal would be my guess!)

Of course after she was born and I was done nursing, back I went.

I am such a sucker for punishment. I'm surprised I don't have an ulcer! :rolleyes1

I love celestial seasonings raspberry zinger and bigelow peach ice teas.

Good Earth Original is good as well. Its sweet without sweetening it. A mint tea works well too - once again, it can be sweet without sweeteners.

the best drinks i can offer you is to drink vitamin water or tea. :hippie:

That will also keep you healthy.. Or try ginseng it will also maintain you in good health. So if ever you'll gonna visit some theme parks it will make you sure to be fit and healthy. :thumbsup2

I like the Countrytime Lemonade packets to mix with water. They come 10 to a box and I only use half a packet each time. So 20 in a box. I don't think it has the chemicals that Crystal Light has. Although I could be wrong :confused3.

Bringing a bunch of them to Disney with us :)

I have a little old fashioned iced tea maker that I use. After I brew it I'll pour it into a larger jug to keep in the fridge and make some more until I fill my gallon jug. I add a flavored tea packet in (peach is my favorite) so the taste isn't so bland. I've given up soda for the most part, except for the occasional treat. The tea has been a great replacement since it still gives me the caffeine!

homebrewed Ice Tea, no sweetner. (Maybe spelenda if I really have a sweet craving)
water. Water with lemon or limes. Water with strawberrys.
Coffee. with only skim milk as creamer. No more sweetners or sugar.

If you use the herbal teas hot or "ice" they don't have caffeine.

I drink a lot of water and coffee. I also green iced green tea with no sugar or anything. I really like the Zen Green Tea from Starbucks, they sell it at the grocery store.

I'm another one who drinks tea. I patronize a store that sells different types of loose teas which I then brew. Some are better hot than iced, but my main drink of the day is tea.

I gave up Dr. Pepper a long time ago. It was hard at first, but now I am used to it. I still have one every once in a while, but it isn't as good as it used to be. I guess I'm just not used to it anymore. Instead I drink a variety of things during the day. I drink milk, juice water, flavored waters, kool-aid, lemonade. I think having a variety helps me.

Did you know that herbal teas are not really teas? They are tisanes. Teas are made from tea leaves from tea trees (and unless decaffeinate, contain caffeine). Teas are tisanes, but tisanes aren't teas. (Coffee is also a tisane).

Not that it stops herbal teas from being called teas....but I think its interesting. Obscure word trivia.

If you aren't lucky enough to have a tea store nearby like Sparkyboy - I like this one over the internet.... http://www.harney.com/ We get their pepermint loose by the pound.

PP here again. Loving all your ideas!!

Since you guys know everything, and i DO mean that, someone or many will know this.

Can you list in order from best to worst, all the chemicals in beverages? For example, is slenda or truvia considered the least harmful?

We don't know. And it isn't that simple

There are things that we KNOW are carcinogenic. There are things we know are bad for you in heavy concentrations - but they actually seem to be helpful if you indulge in them in moderation (alcohol and caffeine are two that actually seem kind of good for you in small quantities - and alcohol in particular will kill you if you drink enough of it).

Many people buy into the "natural" theory. Which is that if the chemicals in question are made in the lab, instead of occurring in nature - they are better for you. Arsenic occurs in nature, so that obviously isn't an absolute. Those people would say that stevia (which is a sweet herb) is better for you than Splenda (which is sugar processed in a lab to leave the sweet and take out the calories, and that is better for you than Nutrasweet. Some people who like the natural theory like organics because it reduces man made chemicals further. I like organics because I don't like eating chemical pesticides, but I'm not necessarily a "natural is better" person.

Recent studies have come out and said that from a health perspective, feeding your kids 100% apple juice really isn't that much better than just feeding them full sugared soda! Fructose and sucrose aren't all that different, and fruit juices often don't have enough nutrients to make up for the calories, lack of fiber, and bad teeth that result. (I'd still rather feed my kids juice than pop - at least there is a vitamin or two floating around in the juice)

Some people believe sugar (cane or beet) is better for you than corn syrup. Scientifically, jury is still out on that.
