do you think it would be possible to get in for dinner in July without making reservations? We thought we'd surprise DS eating here if we could fit it in.

They would probably be able to accommodate you...but be prepared to wait quite a bit thou. I would recommend putting their direct # in your cell phone, and calling at least 1 or 2 hours ahead of time and making a reservation. (the earlier the better). That might minimize your wait a bit. But it is July, and its very busy. Good luck!
:)

I think its always possible however, be prepared to possible wait an hr or two..its a fun place, i however prefer rainforest better, but for a lil dino lover, its a must do, unless they get scared easily, then I would say no..lol!:thumbsup2

We wanted to eat at TRex on a Sat in May during the Cars 2 weekend. I tried to call 1 hour before and was told they weren't taking reservations, however, we walked up at noon or few minutes after and were seated within 10 minutes. So it is worth a try.

I've called and made reservations directly with T-rex, when disney dining said they were booked up. Even a couple weeks ahead a time,... I would recommend trying that.. Not the day of...

T-Rex meal was a few months after they opened. When we arrived about 6:00 PM on a weekday in June, the wait to get in was about 15 minutes. After the meal the wait was about an hour.

If your issue is that you don't want to plan the timing of your meal, you will probably have a shorter wait earlier. If your issue is you can't get a time from Disney call direct.

I agree. T Rex releases very few reservations to Disney Dining. However, you can almost always get a reservation right away by calling them directly at 407-828-8739 to make a reservation.

If you don't want to be tied to a reservation and just want to walk up to surprise your young dino lover, then I'd suggest eating at more off times. 11:30 lunch or 4:30 dinner, etc.

Thanks for the replies and for giving me the direct phone number.

The more we talked about it, the more we think a reservation would be better so we're going to cut our 2nd Animal Kingdom day a little short so we can go to T Rex.

Would they take a reservation thats 4 1/2 wks away or do I need to wait till closer to the date?

I called almost six months in advance for a reservation because we knew we would be celebrating our grandson's birthday there

We went on Mother's day weekend, and called that day to make a reservation. Online it said they weren't taking reservations, but we were able to do it over the phone. It was fairly crowded when we got there, but we probably only waited about 10-15 minutes to get seated. The moved people along fairly quickly.
If you can make a reservation online now though, and it's somewhere you really want to go, I'd say do it now. We love it because our DS is a little dino-phile, and I get gift cards as rewards through mypoints.com!

Well I did it. I called yesterday and made our reservations for july 13th. Thanks for the tip of calling the restaurant directly. When he asked what time we were wanting I gave him a window of time and he said we had our choice they had availability for seatings about every 15 minutes.
DS is going to be so excited. :cool1:

He is going to love it. I love sitting in the Octupus room or the meteor room. The ice age room is hard on my eyes with that neon blue.:scared1:

We stopped in T-Rex for lunch around 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon in April. We had no wait and the place was empty. If you're worried about a long wait, maybe try going a little earlier than the dinner rush if you can.
