So What are my Chances....?

Planning a trip for Oct 1 through the 10th 2008. I'm going to start by booking at my home resort SSR at the 11 month window and then hope to flip to a grand villa at OKW at the 7 month window to save on points. What are my odds on being able to do this at that time of year?

Also do you all think i need to do a day by day ressie for SSR in Oct, my inclination is to just wait until Nov 10th and book the whole shebang (going to get a dedicated 2 bedroom and a studio)?

Given the size of SSR, I see no reason why day by day booking would be necessary for your dates. I think there is a good chance an OKW GV will be available right at 7 months.

However, you are looking at Food & Wine Festival time, so the GVs might be booked up during the home advantage time frame.

Given the length of you stay, you should consider a third option - that there will be availability for some of you days, but not for others. Would you consider a split stay?

But I'm thinking that if I do day by day I would have to give up my original booking at SSR then not be garanteed any booking at OKW, or is is possible to maintain a partial week at SSR while waiting for OKW to come through? Someone else suggested that a split booking would be an option but as Im traveling with two families with young kids this is not ideal.

Any thoughts?

not if you have enough points. Just keep the 11 mo reservation until you have what you need or what you can get at OKW.

If you don't have enough points to hold the SSR reservation until you have the OKW reservation, you will need to decide if you are willing to risk moving back and forth (if all the OKW days don't come through) or if you are OK with staying at SSR if you can't get the GV at OKW. There is a much smaller chance of the OKW reservation being available (coming through on the waitlist) if you try for the whole thing all at once.

I would probably wait until 7 months from the first check out day, and call and ask about availability for GV at OKW. Based on what I'm told, then I would either begin the ressie for OKW or just book the whole thing at SSR then.
