We've managed to get a flight out of Atlanta next Saturday night after finally getting though to BA this am (just as they cancelled our flight) so are going to drive down Friday/Saturday and stay on the way. Our other options were Miami on the Tuesday after or MCO on Wednesday 28th!

So

Any ideas for cheap/free activities in the Orlando area as our 14 day passes expire this weekend!

Hopefully we can stay in this villa as they aren't expecting anyone to arrive today.

Go visit some timeshares and get some free tickets :thumbsup2

Hope u r able to get home soon x

great idea!!!

they'll probably be inundated with brits :)

sweet tomatoes is cheap and i think there's a coupon somewhere...for two meals for one..
i'll go look for it..

eat there for lunch as the dinner is more expensive, even though it's exactly the same...

The malls are always good for a nosey. What about getting the boat from DTD and visiting some of the resorts (POR) or visiting the resorts on the monorail.
The Boardwalk is always nice to have a wander around too.

We ended up staying an extra week in 2007 as our DD came down with chickenpox and couldn't fly.

Cheap ideas

Downtown Disney
Ft Wilderness chip dale campfire - no ticket needed - on every night at 7pm
Disney boardwalk - nice stroll, street entertainers and you can see the epcot fireworks for free.
Bok tower gardens - I think it about $8 each. We really liked it here, very peaceful.
Florida's natural orange juice visitor centre - on the way to bok tower - we didn't stop so can't recomend but maybe worth a try.

Hi,

You could go to the ticket office at magic Kingdon and ask to upgrade your two week UK ticket to a three week uk one explaining the situation.

They offered the difference between the price of our two week ticket and an annual pass when we upgraded one of our tickets taking off the full cost of our two week ticket off the price of the AP.

Might knock you back but it might be worth a go.

Ps Enjoy your extra days there could worse places to be stuck

Celebration, Old Town, DTD.

But certainly see if there is anything you can do with your existing tickets and see if you can get an extra few days in Disney :thumbsup2

That is an excellent suggestion :thumbsup2

Hi Jo

I heard that Aquatica was doing free entry for Brits that are stranded ... any good?

Hope you get home with the minimum of difficulty :(

Hi Jo - found this:

http://ow.ly/1zKlN

Seems to be free for Seaworld and Busch, too. Check out the link for what you need to take.

Don't know if you've heard but i've just seen an update on facebook from Seaworld they are offering free entry to those that are stranded, to either Seaworld, Aquatica or Busch Gardens. :thumbsup2

You just need to show your flight ticket, valid from 14th to 21st or when normal flights are resumed. Hope this is of help to you are any other stranded DISer's. :)

Enjoy your exra days.

If you want cheap gift certificates for restaurants you can visit www.restaurant.com. You would have to give the Villa address as it is only available for a US address, but you can print them off - they don't post them to you so it shouldn't be a problem. Unless you can't get access to a printer.

I agree with all of the suggestions so far! I'm sure upgrading your Disney tickets for one or two days is actually very cheap once you already have passes, as long as you do so before they expire, and enjoy the extra time!! :goodvibes

i think this is wonderful of sea world to do this in a time when a lot of familys want to get home and a little low on cash.
good on you.

I emailed restaurant.com about this the other day; if you have any probs inputting villa address they told me to put in their registered office address and that will work. I haven't got it here, but its on their website!

Good to know. Thanks

tHANKs for all the ideas guys :)

Spent the morning waiting for confirmation that the people due to come into the villa weren't! They haave rebooked for Wednesday so we are OK til then.

Had lots of fun at the airport this afternoon returning the car and renting another one. Booked another one on line but it didn't confirm (Dollar UK closed all day so were no help) but we have a car through the desk

We have Magic your way tickets that expire Monday so we'll add a day and do Epcot 2moro . Also the free day at Seaworld which is a wonderful gesture. We left Seaworld out this time so we are all excited about this!

That should leave some time for your ideas (or for Disney/Universal to match Seaworld's generosity!)

Hopefully by Wednesday we'll have a better idea if and when things are getting back to normal and plan from then. If we can't fly Saturday I think we'd be better to stay in Orlando but if all is looking good we'll head up to Atlanta maybe staying on the way to break the journey.

We don't have access to a printer but have lots of voucher booklets and we've done a shop so will eat in for a few days. Seemed sensible as we are unsure how long we'll be here for!

We are all OK and feel lucky as the people who were at the airport from our flight who we met today had no flight as yet, and 7 to get home.

Thanks all xx
