After much discussion we've decided to buy AKL. Now there's nothing stopping us from doing it right now, but we are going to be in the World and on a Disney cruise in January and was just wondering if theres any long standing deals associated with buying on property or on board. I think I read once buying on the ship gave you a $500 on board credit, but I'm not sure of the specifics. We wouldn't be planning on taking our first DVC vacation until 2009, so waiting until January won't affect our booking window or anything. We just figure if there's a nice treat to be had for waiting we might as well wait.

Anyone know the current offers and the likleyhood of them still being in January?

There is no guarantee what the deal might be in six months. Getting the double developer points being offered now is worth more than the $500 on board credit for sure. Go for it now!!

You can use the points for your Disney World stay in January!!

Double developer points being offered at SSR and AKV now. Much better deal than a $500 credit. Although it is not recommended to use points for cruises, depending on the amount of points you purchase, one possibiity would be to use these developer points for your cruise. you recieve 2 times that amount in developer points to be used in 12 months. Example: If you purchase 200 points @ AKV you would recieve 400 developer points to use in 12 months. You can use these points to replace an existing vacation, or rent them out. They cannot be banked or tranferred. I'm not sure of how many points you need for your cruise but its an option that would save you a lot of money. You still would have your original 200 points to also use or bank into next year, it offers a lot of flexibility. Good luck.

I know all of you "nmbers crunchers" won't agree but I highly recommend using points for cruises!! We just got back from the Med Cruise last month and I just booked our 10th, or is it the 11th cruise using points, 200 of which were developer points from the 100 point add on the other day! ! Sometimes we will do points and some cash. We bought the points to use them on all the DVC options.

It works for us! We still take trips to Disney World and stay on points on a regular basis but usually just on weekends.
