Ok, help a DVC pal out here. I found on the DVC site this evening a promotional video and some material about the upcoming VDHotel. Theming will consist of Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty, and Princess and the Frog. Then (and if I can figure out how to post this) the last slide of the video states "resort that could expire as early as January 31, 2062". By my math that's 39 years and not the typical 49 years or 2072 if the resort opens this year.

What am I missing? Is this typical lawyer language or could something else be at play here? Happy for your thoughts and some educating.

Thanks....

PS Video is at DVC under the Destinations tab, then far left "Coming Soon! The Villas at Disneyland Hotel"

Good catch! I didn’t even notice that. That would put it near VGC and AUL.

It doesn’t say membership via VDH could expire in 2062. It says membership in DVC requires purchasing a deeded interest in a DVC resort that may expire in 2062.
Thanks Starry_Solo

So maybe its legalize and generic DVC tag line. For giggles though, I did watch the videos for Aulani, VGF, and RR and the tag line wasn't included about a 2062 date. I like consistency but maybe that's not a thing with these disclaimers.

Yes, this has nothing to do with VDH. Of the active resorts on sale, the earliest one (Aulani) expires in 2062. This is a non-event.

Unless im out of the loop is this not BIG news and confirming that it'll have restrictions? Wording basically confirms you have to have direct points to stay there.

Did they officially confirm that already and I just missed it?

I am not reading it that way..what specific line leads you to believe it’s implying direct points only?

The specific 2062 date, which is for Aulani and is the earliest expiration of the active sales resorts. They never advertise the sold outs, so to me that specific date is telling that its got the restrictions meaning you gotta buy direct.

Could be reading too deep but maybe not.

How does an Aulani expiration date tell you that VDH will have resale restrictions? I believe this same language was after the VGF video too.

Well if thats true, that the same language was in VGF video, then yea Im reading too deep apparently.

Umh? Interesting observation on the price. I thought there might be a clue there but hadn’t pieced it together. Winner winner chicken dinner for you if you’re correct at $227/pt.

That’s been there on all Rivera and VGF materials because of Aulani.

Speculation from people viewing the coming soon video for VDH (Coming Soon) is that the initial sales price will be $227. I've seen it stated multiple times that exisiting DVC members are offered discounts.

Assuming the the price is $227, what would we expect to see as the initial existing member price?

If you go look at any of the threads on this topic on this board, the consensus here is that that price on that screen is based on the $217 price plus dues plus closing costs.

OK so if we assume $217, what is the consensus for what the existing member price would be based on past history?

Although my take on the consesus on this board has been that there will be another price hike between now and when points go on sale. Either way, given that is is something new to me, I guess I'm more curious about what kind of an existing member discount we could see :)
