I still think it was rude and uncalled for. If the person had true concern for the OP they would have posted that in a private message not on here to create a bashing of the OP. I don't know the person and I don't know the situation, so I can't say if I agree with the bashers or not. But, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Now if she comes back saying I am in debt again (which, I doubt she even has a credit card to get into debt with) then I'll agree with everyone that she needs to go to money management classes, but until she comes and explains the exact situation I'm not judging.

CC companies give bankrupt people cards since they know they cannot got bankrupt again for another 7 years. Don't be so sure she does not have a CC.

Personally I would never go on the internet or even to a friend to beg others to pay my bills or give my kids a treat.

Sadly, I have seen begging right here on the DIS.

But, we still don't know how she paying for the trip. Maybe someone is paying for it. Maybe she is back on her feet and used her income tax refund, maybe she won the lottery. We don't know and it's not our business. I just think it's crazy that it was googled like that. It's just my opinion but it really disgusted me. It is crazy that there is a site like that but even if it was looked up I don't think it was right to post it.

Obviously it is a gift trip because here on the DIS no matter how dire your financial situation you know someone who is willing to pony up the cash for a trip to Disney.

I hate to break the news to (general) you but when you go bankrupt for whatever reason (bad spending habits or medical bills) you are breaking a promise to pay for services rendered (which again includes medical service). Now, it is true that maybe the medical bills were too high and you could never pay them off but that doesn't change the fact that you welched on a loan or on a promise to pay for those services and if a company wants to use that to determine you are not trustworthy they will. If I loaned someone money and they decided not to repay me or provided some service to them and they stiffed me on the bill you bet I'd never trust them again and that is the mindset a lot of businesses rightfully take.

I do not see why not:confused3 It is not much different than wasting time reading and posting here. I would not have thought to do it on my own--but I find it fascinating what was pulled up.

To me the "just....wow" comment would be better applied to someone who quits a well paying job to have a shorter commute without having planned and saved enough to cover basic bills in the lag between paychecks and then goes online asking strangers to pay their water bill and Easter basket. Then alter declares bankruptcy and has a sob story about still being unemployed yet has a WDW vacation in the works. I have a hard time understanding how someone can continue to be short sighted and not learn from their mistakes after so many--and yet then I read posts like yours dismissing it as not their fault and realize they are probably being told that all the time and this is greatly contributing to their mindset and then I want to apply the phrase to those like you:rotfl: Really, if we could ALL (yes, corporations too) stop blaming everyone else and shirking our responsibilities things would be soooo much better in the long run.

I do not think the corporations should be allowed to do it either. I have never been a fan of the "so&so is allowed to so why can't I?" argument from my kids, an I do not really think it works in society either.

Juliet Gordon Low (founder of the Girl Scouts) said "Right is right, even if no one else does it." I love that quote:thumbsup2

Ok, so let me get this straight. Her DH quit a job, in this economy in oder to have a shorter commute? Wow. My DH commute was just over an hour each way.

I agree someone loaning the OP money and depending on the job as the right to judge. I don't think Disers do

He quit his job without having another one lined up? Or he quit for a job closer to home?

New job was sales, commission only...at a time when most people weren't buying anything.

Jep. If you come here whit a sob story there is almost 99% change there is a whole other background.
Remember everything you put on the web will never go away and will hunt you or come back to bite you in you're behind.

So, I take it that you know the name of the op?

Rude an uncalled for?
How do you thing we got in this financial world wide mess? People living above there means and if the bills are knocking on their door they just walk away.
Sobbing about medical bills is as old as the devil himself .No matter what you should first cover ALL your expenses and make sure you get a decent insurance to cover this.

We have a very important to pay list. Insurances, business, clients and bank get money first no matter what.

It's great you have money to priorities that way. Not everyone does! Insurance is the last thing on someones to pay list that is living check to check barely able to feed their children. You have been blessed to obviously not have to live like that. I've been blessed to be able to survive, but not everyone has so why judge anyone.

Yes we did. Had cancer and closed our business for a half year. No income at all and we still were able to pay bank, taxes, food and mortgage because we saved and were prepared for an emergency.Medical bills went over half a million Euro but we payed insurance for that all our life so no sweat.

No money for luxury let alone a vacation.I went back to work totally bold DURING chemo but I never complained.

There is an old saying that goes: If you have a silver roof ( like in old silver coins that used to be the only paying method) you make sure you have enough beams to support it or it will collapse on you. That same roof that was shining for others will kill you.

When you put something out there on the internet, you can no longer play the "OMGGGGGG it's none of your business!!!!!" card, just saying.

Hello again. WOW....never realized this would create such an uproar on the boards! To be honest, I haven't read ALL the posts, but plenty of them. While I did not expected to be bashed so hard...I don't take it that personally. To each his own. We ARE in a much better position now than we were then (2 years ago) and it is completely possible to turn your life around in that time. No, we do not have $100,000 set aside for emergencies, we never will...but I will say that when I'm on my death bed, I will be grateful for all the wonderful memories I have with my family, children. I won't be thinking, gosh I wish I'd saved that $3000 and kept it in the bank, and there will be money kept in the bank, more than $3000. Let's be honest, $3000 doesn't get much and isn't a life-changing amount of money when saved. However, a week's vacation (for a family that hasn't had more than 3 family vacations in 11 years) IS a life changing event. I worked at Disney when I was 18 and even then it was magical, and I want my kids to at least have the chance to experience that magic (and if they don't care for it, then we won't go back).

Nothing against anyone who does save and save before they ever spend a dime, that's great that you have the means to do it, but for me, memories and unique experiences are a big part of life. And, taking my kids to Disney while they are still kids (DD is already 9) will be a wonderful experience that we will never forget. Not to mention, DH has ongoing medical problems (that we have good insurance for, and costs are under control), that we do not dwell on, but are always there in the back of our minds, and we don't take our time together for granted.

I don't mind being bashed, like I said, everyone feels differently about things. People post things that I don't necessarily agree with, but I don't take the time to bash them.

Oh, and my DH does have a current job, but it's not great and he is looking for a CAREER, right now, he has a job. The intention of my original post was to vent about how he lost out on an AWESOME job (off when schools are off, like me!) over a bankruptcy that was filed almost 2 years ago, was really upsetting, as we are very much different now than we were then.

I remember reading a post that there is no way we could have turned our lives around in such a short time. It's absolutely possible. I have a better job, my DH had a better job (until the boss went nuts and fired half the staff), and is now working an interim job until he can find something better. We pay all of our bills every month, on time.

Ok...so again...I am not bothered by all the bashing here, although thank you to those of you who really thought it was uncalled for, and I can understand some people's thoughts, but I have my own thoughts as I stated above.

And, i promise, no one on this board actually knows me. Except maybe 1 person.:cool2:

Sorry you went through that, but you still had left over money to save. Not everyone does. I personally don't have money to save. I'm lucky I get insurance through work. But, if I didn't have insurance that would be at the bottom of my pay list in hopes that we didn't need it. My husband and I work very hard to have what we have. My kids are provided for and happy I don't have any luxury, but if I decided to spend money on a vacation that would be my business just as it is the OP's especially 4 years after she posted about being in a financial struggle and 2 years after a bankruptcy. I can completely understand if she/he personally asked you for money, but not when she/he was venting about something they didn't understand. A simple reason why a company wouldn't hire someone with a bankruptcy answer should have been were this thread ended. Not with the OP's whole life history

LOL I saw that one coming...that's ok...I feel that it will be an awesome, probably once-in-a-lifetime experience to give our family.

Oh...one more thing...why does everyone think I posted OP 4 years ago?? I posted it a few days ago....
