Wanted to share a little "tip" about the coin jars that my BF does... Every so often he dumps the change jar and separates out all the coins then puts it back in the jar! Sound crazy? Here's the tip.. he puts all the quarters and other silver coin in the bottom, under the pennies! He knows neither one of us will take the time to dig through an inch and a half of pennies to get to "the good stuff". Works for us, thought maybe you all would like that!

What a GREAT idea!! I'm always "skimming" off the top. The top of the change jar that is. ;)

Anyway, I was starting to think that I was the ONLY one NOT going this year. All of my family is going, and all of my friends on the Dis. . .

I started feeling like I was going to have to stay off the boards as it gets me so depressed.

As you can see by my countdown timer, I have over a year to go. I entered an agreement w/ DH last year that we would NOT go this year so that we can get out of debt!!! (DH is a Dave Ramsey junkie). The trip we are taking is our great big 10 day "Way to Go us!!" trip.

We'll have the money to go because once we're out of debt, in two months we'll have the money to pay for the trip. We own DVC so I will make my ressies in March and buy our airline tickets when they go on sale. I want to buy PAP's because once we're out of debt, DH promises that we can go on more trips.

Well, I've babbled enough! I'm just glad to see that there are others who aren't going this year either. We should start our own club. :grouphug:

Wow! We know we're going next year and I know we'll be at the Poly on June 18th (my b-day) but everything else is still up in the air. We have the Disney Visa and are using it as our debit card. I have $500 saved so far. Compared to all of you I better get going...:)

I've only saved $1100 so far. We age going in August 2005. Not sure where we are staying right now. Trying to stretch the trip for 10 days. 1 week in a timeshare/rental unit and maybe a few days on Disney property if I can swing it.

You guys are very inspirational. I've got to start saving my coins.

We are going for the first time August 13, 2005. Not sure where we are staying , have saved no money because we are taking the cruise on August 28th of this year!!! I needed to plan another trip because I am already having withdraw from planning this one.

I am planning to go in May 2005, and I just started to save at the beginning of July. So far I have saved $80.00 in coin, and $240 in an Disney account. I had a late start so hopefully I can make up for lost time. All my planning is in my head so far. LOL!! Every penny counts. I have learned some good tips on this board that has helped tremendously. Can't wait to go!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

We are going in March 05, this will be our first time with extended family (fingers are crossed). We have been planning this since last Christmas, it took awhile to get all of the schedules set up.

So far we have:
Rooms - 3 @ BCV - 2 studios and 1 -1bedroom
change jar - $200
Disney Visa $700 (might use this for cruise)

It finally is starting to feel like I can really jump into planning more specifics, so now I am really getting excited.

Hi,

I'm brand new to these boards, can someone tell me what the ING accounts are?

Thanks

Hi Kate, there is a thread stuck at the top of these boards that you can read up on it. If someone hasn't helped you out already. They sure are a great way to save!

My vacation is June 29th- July10...

I haven't booked my POR rooms yet as I am waiting for the AAA rates until the AP rates come out. I have to wait until 7 months before to book my DVC unit.

I started an ING account looking good so far. I have 25.00 in rewards dollars and 0 DD but will start to buy those soon especially for DD for the holidays.

We also have a huge jar of change that is 1/4 the way full. I imagine it to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 200.00 and the pennies from last time we rolled it that I was too lazy to take to the bank (I'm glad I was)!

Watching the airfare daily and will book that on my Disney Visa (to get the extra reward points!!!)

Maybe we will see some of you there!

:teeth:

We are putting down our $200 deposit next week :D We are driving down there the day after our wedding and staying for 5 days. Starting to freak out cause I have a wedding to pay for, house, furn. appliance, and now Disney, but it will be worth it. This is my first time going :):earseek:

Just started massive OT. I worked 11.5 days today. So after I took an 1.5 lunch hour. I still had 1.5 in OT. I figure I could end up averaging about 15 hours or more a check. 1/2 goes to Debt repayment and 1/2 to Disney. I plan to have my trip paid in full by April.

I want to do a cruise in 2006 possibly. SO the savings will begin again.

We are doing a 7 day (land/sea) thing in 2007.

We really wanted to go this Christmas but our DD is starting college, and our 10 year old DS needs braces!!!

Oh well...we are shooting for Dec 2005. I don't want to go any other time. I love all the Christmas stuff!

We started our ING accounts, saving change, the kids are too.
Have not bought tix yet, planning on that as we can.
Also plan on getting Disney Cash.

Should be fun...I love planning these things. DH thinks I am nuts.

Will probably be staying offsite at a condo through Government Employee travel opportunities. 8 days, 7 nights for $250.

Think of all the things I can buy since I am saving so much money on the lodging!!;)

Wow! Nice to get rates of $250 for a week! I think I'm paying more than that per night! (Think of all i won't be buying!). I've made my deposit, have my savings account, already thinking of tours, PS, and recreation...hoping to indulge in a spa treatment too....I love planning! My DH and DDs think I'm nuts. They're happy to leave it to me!

What a super thread! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who starts planning way in advance. Our trip is next year too and even though I have managed to personally save $485 so far {Our tax refund will pay for the rooms and tickets.} I am still up in the air over which resort to stay at. Not sure if we want to split our stay between two resorts or not. A friend of ours offered us a weeks worth of points in one of the DVC resorts for less than $1000! We were thrilled but now she is having marriage problems and doesn't know if she should commit the points or not. {Darn!} So far I have decided on AKL, Yacht Club, Poly, PO/RS, and WL. If our friend comes through with her wonderful timeshare offer I would definitely love to stay at the Boardwalk. I guess our planning stage is going to continue for awhile...{sigh}

Just bought our tickets and made hotel reservation at the shades of green.

I need to buy: airplane tickets
food voucher and I can't think of anything else

So far have purchased airfare. Everything else will fall into place. I will probably use Priceline for car rental and accommodations. we have never stayed on site and I have been considering it for a couple of nights. Plan at the present time is to spend three nights somewhere in wd world, four nights on the west coast and the last four nights in the I-drive area.

First, thanks to all those who responded about the ING accounts!

So far, I have $600 in savings, have paid one night at CSR (but thinking of changing to POR, or possibly WL if I can get a better rate as we get closer)

Hoping to spend $400 or so for airfare.

Also want to do Cirque as its just the 2 of us, and it is our anniversary!

:sunny:

We're going in February 2005! :hyper:

So far we have 2 nights paid for (the ones for the ressie's at POFQ and AKL), we have our change jar going, we have our ING accounts set up, and we have a good pile of money in another account which will already pay for most of our trip (I'm going to transfer this money to the ING account so it can get that awesome 2.2%!!!!!!!!!!!!!). So, we just need to make sure we don't waste any money on unnecessary big purchases over the next several months, and we'll be good to go! We're keeping our boys birthdays and Christmas smaller this year too. (I tend to go overboard on gifts for my kids anyway...)

I can't wait till we get to the 90 day mark so we can make our ps's!!!

Well, I have 7 nights planned at Ft. Wilerness and plans to go to the hoop-de-doo review, whispering canyon and of course the 50's prime time.
I'll probably buy AP's because its a great excuse to get down there a couple extra times since thats the most expensive part. I figure if I buy one a month I'll be all set for when Feb rolls around. I love buying things here and there instead of dropping one big chunk!

My only stumbling block now is to get my DH to say we can go! LOL.....but he seems to be softening. After our 3rd trip last year (thats what those APs will do!) he said he was disney'd out (tsk tsk). I'm hoping he'll give in! LOL

Of course, that won't keep me from making plans! LOL ::yes::
