So the Nemo Show at AK is a done deal?

According to Kevin Yee...

There are whispers that the Finding Nemo musical now being installed in Animal Kingdom's Theater in the Wild (former home of Tarzan Rocks) will be a blacklight-based puppet show, like the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. That explains the need to enclose the theater! Regardless of the reason, the addition of an air-conditioned facility will be a welcome one when this opens up late this year.

The question here seems to be details and not whether or not this even involves Nemo. That seems to be a certainty, which is news to me. Does Nemo fit here? Considering Lasseters connection to Nemo, he must approve of this.

There are a lot of interesting "whispers" floating around these days. In the last couple of years Disney went on a "Pixar binge" where it seems like a Pixar character was being planned for every nock and crannie of every park no matter the location, show or circumstance.

This was part of the then on-going relationship battle between Disney and Pixar. In case a new deal was reached (which everyone assumed would be at far more favorable terms for Pixar), Disney wanted to lock-in as much under the old contract as possible (e.g., royalties and other payments Disney pays Pixar for rights to use the characters and stories). Had a deal not been reached, Disney also wanted as much possible aleady in the works. Please they could use these projects to demostrate how much Disney relied on the Pixar relationship should the lawsuits start flying.

But with the purchase, all these reasons are no mute. Instead, Disney now has to deal with John Lasseter. Whispers and rumors are all over the place saying that he is "not happy" with the amount or the quality of these new Pixar-related shows. And he's beginning to throw his weight around (hence the delay of the 'Toy Story' breakfest at the Disney/MGM Studios).

It seems probable that there will be delays and changes to some new shows (with everything from the AK 'Nemo' show to the 'Nemo' ride at The Living Seas', future 'Monsters' and 'Incrediables' attractions, etc.). But it also seems probable that what finally is built will be vastly improved because of Mr. Lasseter's involvement.

Lou Mongello said on his podcast that he won't believe this report until he sees it, because the location and the content of this rumored show seems so out of place. But if the show is good, it is good. AV, do you then conclude that Yee's report is somewhat premature? I certainly would like to think so

I think Mr. Yee was perfectly correct when he called this a whisper.

Disney is a massive corporation filled with thousands of people. Ideas and plans come and go daily. Confirmed, hard-decisions can be overturned at the whim of single executive. People at the top don't always communicate what's going to the people below them; nor do people at the top know everything that's actually going on with the "front lines".

So Mr. Yee could be 100% accurate that a puppet show is planned, or it could instantly change tomorrow should someone like John Lasseter say "no". That's the central point about rumors - a lot of them are merely "what's we're thinking at the moment".

At least Animal Kingdom would finally get some real science into the park. The place has been continually dumbed-down ever since they closed the Dinosaur/Fossil exhibition tent to put in those cheap carnival rides.
