My mom has it's grandfather! We bought it in the mid-90's (94-ish?) and it's still kickin'.

My mom has a smaller Kenmore I bought for her last year. She has a couple of problems with it. The fridge is that it's fairly noisy and that the ice maker gets jammed. I *think* it's because the ice maker is in the door and not in the freezer. It appears the fridge that you picked out may have the same issues.

You may also want to check the dimensions of your current fridge. We had to buy a smaller fridge than my mom wanted (she wanted a 25 cu ft Kenmore Elite) because of the constraint of the height of the cabinet over the fridge.

I am patiently waiting for my 17 year old fridge to die. We've replaced the stove, washer, dryer and dishwasher in the past couple of years but are still waiting for the fridge to bite the bullet. I am happy you are happy!

We bought a kenmore in 2004-3 months later the compressor went out so they gave us a new fridge-a little over a year later it went out again, warranty was up of course so we called the repair guy out and $300 later we had a new compressor-well that one died in December... So I'm not really a kenmore fan.

DO NOT buy a Kenmore. I have had nothing but problems with Sears with both delivery and service. They are very unreliable. The last fridge we bought from there they kept pushing the delivery date back. It was 3 weeks over the original delivery date when we went to cancel the order and then, oddly enough, they were, then, able to deliver it the next day. We also had a Kenmore washer that died. We called for service, I waited all day for them, and they never showed up. ...and I work nights.... when I called the service department they said the repair person had called me to reschedule (they did not) I bought a new washer at Home Depot.

Ouch  That happened to us once. But it was -30 outside so I just stock the balcony with food. :rolleyes1

I have to say my Kenmore is 1 year older than your fridge was and still kicking. Never ever had a problem with it. The delivery was fast and easy. I've never ever had a problem with my Kenmore washer or dryer either. OTH my GE and other brand appliances (Stove DW, Micro, previous W/D) have all been big PITA so I think sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but Home Depot has no in-house service department.......it's contracted out.......to Sears ! :thumbsup2

I was just lucky enough to finally upgrade our stove, it kept shorting out and try to catch fire. Of course dh never quite believed me until it did it to him and he finally let me replace it. It was original to the house which was built in 1971 so 39 years old, the darn thing was older than me!

:lmao:If your 1971 stove is older than YOU, my vintage Roper stove (we think it's from the 40's) must be older than your parents! It doesn't catch on fire but it runs about 75-degrees too hot.

It looks a lot like this:

My fridge is a lot newer. It's an Amana with the freezer on the bottom that's about 11 years old. My old one died when I was pregnant with my DD and on bedrest.

Since it is not even a year old I hope it doesn't need repairs! I just meant to say I was so disgusted I just bought a new one...somewhere other than Sears, they will get no more money from me!

We had the same experience with a washer and dryer at Sears. It was supposed to be this great deal on front loaders over Christmas a couple of years ago... $800 for the PAIR. But they couldn't deliver until February.... OK, no biggie, then they push it to March, then May... well when they called in March and pushed to May we went over and canceled the order. Amazingly they told us they could get it for us sooner... Too bad for them we had already been reading about all kinds of trouble with that particular set... told them no go and got our money back. Cool thing was, we'd already gotten our rebate check for the delivery fees... so we made $60 on that deal. But they will never get our business again. Sears is out.
