So tell me again about the A/C

Well I read on these boards awhile ago something you have to do to keep your A/C running all night and I can't find it. We are staying at SSR and need the air to sleep. Please remind me what needs to be done. Thanks, Gina

We've never had a problem with the AC at SSR - day or night.

I remember it being some kinda sensor when I stayed there in may and it didn't normally run at night....not sure how to make it stay on

The ACs still run when you are gone or during the night, I think it is just set at a higher temperature than some people like. Quoting a previous post:

On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow button at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, there will be the letters "bp" where the temp. numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that temperature whether you are in it, moving around in it or not. You will need to do this each day.

No, that's not the case. You can indeed run your AC at night in DVC (or any Disney resort) rooms.

I seem to remember an old thread where someone mentioned the rooms had a motion sensor so the trick was to tie a hamster to the string on a helium balloon and just let him float around all night...

How do you bypass the SSR thermostats?

You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode ofter 24 hours."
For us, the bypass lasted for 3 days, but you may want to reset it occasionally just to be sure. "

Both OKW and BCV were always plenty cold enough for me at night in my room (and I like it cold when I sleep). I'm not sure how many people have had this issue or at which resorts, but the only place I ever felt it might be happening was at BWV. I must admit that the one time I stayed at SSR, it was early January. All the other resorts (except VWL) I've been at when it's hot out.

We were just there in Feb and it is indeed sensored so take the instructions with you. We did not know this having never stayed at a DVC resort before and I was miserable. I had to get up every night and walk back and forth in the hallway to make it turn on. I think it is a great when you are out but when you are sleeping it is awful. Even in Feb. I woke up in a sweat. Yuck!

Thanks for your replies, I know my DH would not like the air going off in the middle of the night. You saved my vacation!
