What is the MVMCP like? I have never been. Are there special Characters that come out like at Halloween? Or is the Parade and Fireworks the only real difference between the MVMCP and a regular day?

I'll preface this with the fact that we are two adults, no kids, and not into character meet & greets. But for us in November, we did MVMCP and while the parade was cute and the fireworks were good, we didn't get much else out of it for as expensive as it is. They do hand out free cookies and cocoa, and there are unique character experiences. But we found ride wait times to be comparable to what they were during the day that time of year, so there wasn't much else in terms of benefits for us. I'm glad we did it, but we won't be doing it again this November. FWIW, we had the same feelings about MNSSHP but thought MNSSHP was better.

MVMCP has a variety of fun and different things to do!
-Special characters last year included:
-all princes out with the princesses
-bert & mary poppins
-wendy came out with peter
-country bears
-genie & abu
-santa does greets
-jack sparrow

The parade is the same parade that runs each day during christmas week, but if you're there before that, it'll be different from the day parade,
-there's also special fireworks,
-2 different stage shows to entertain you (one on the castle stage, one over in tomorrowland)
-hot chocolate & cookie (or apple slices & apple juice) stations much like the trick or treating at halloween
-snow on main street

If you check out my "Dec 2013" tr in my signature, Day 3 has a MVMCP in it, updates start at the "triple dipping maybe?" update link! :)

MVMCP is a lot of fun, and is worth the cost IMO, we ended up going for a second party in Dec just to see characters again! I do like the parade/shows/fireworks, but am such a huge lover of halloween that those ones win for me, but the parties are a lot of fun and a cute way to get in the festive mood!

We went into one of the places where they had the hot chocolate and cookies (Cosmic Rays? Don't really recall where) and there was a dance floor with people dancing. Goofy and Pluto got on the dance floor so we spent ages watching them sneak up behind unsuspecting people on the dance floor dancing with them.

BTW, we are two adults in their 50's, no children and that was our third MVMCP. We are planning our fourth this year.

We went to the xmas party in Nov. We took advantage of the short lines for rides, got our photo taken with Santa.

But the crowds can be unfriendly. Someone pushed me down on top of my DD.

I agree that everyone should go at least once. With that said, I have been to 4 MVMCPs since 2004. One was PACKED (early December) and miserably crowded. One had almost no crowds and the other two were so-so.

You CANNOT go there expecting low crowds and no lines. The time I went that was so horrible I waited 45 min in Tomorrowland just for a beverage. Main Street was all but impassable it was so crowded.

In 2010 Cosmic Rays was so crowded there was NO seating to be had. Main Street was again packed, but ride waits were 20-30 min.

I now aim for every 2-3 years. The hot cocoa is straight out of "just add hot water" mix and to me is NOTHING special at all and the cookies are pre-made, boxed variety. Not bad, but not "Boardwalk quality." For what Disney (now) charges for this event and for what perks they have taken away, I had hoped for better quality in what remained.....

Do you remember if the really crowded party was a weekend?
