Let me start by telling you ladies about my original wedding plans ( that I came up with 2 years ago WAY before being engaged lol). My DF and I go to Disney every year for the F&W festival. Our first trip together as a couple was to Disney and it has special meaning for us. We LOVE F&W, MNSSHP and HHN (at universal). I wanted to share all those things with my friends and family as well. My fiance had a tough time finding a job after we graduated law school so it is prob why he took longer than expected to propose. Just last November my best guy friend got engaged... and he subsequently took my wedding date of Columbus day weekend.
The reason why I chose Columbus day because my MOHs, and other people in the bridal party are teachers. They really cant take off work too much and I wanted a holiday weekend so all guests didnt have to take off work to attend the wedding if they didnt want to make a vacation out of it.
So Columbus day is out, so I have Memorial day, 4th of july and labor day to choose from. My busy season at work is June/July so I was shying away from the 4th def and memorial day. So I am left with LDW.
The bad thing about LDW is that it is peak hurricane season in Florida. In additon with all the crazy hurricanes we have had up here in NJ (Irene and Sandy) my mom was all worried that it might happen again and my family would not be able to get to the wedding.
So now I am freaking out. But, there is also another reason why I chose LDW, and this is where your help comes in. I do not have many girlfriends ..my 5 girlfriends are my maids. All but one are married. Two have had their first child. Problem is 3 of them are right now trying to have a child (or 2nd one). This means that if all goes well, their babies would be due around March. They will all be breast feeding too.
I do not have any children and have no idea what motherhoods is like. I thought it would be better if their child were 6 months old rather than 3 months old for my wedding. I don't want them to hate the fact that they have to leave their new baby to attend a wedding in another state. I dont even think infants that young can travel. I just would not be comfortable thinking my wedding is a huge burden on them.
My concerns with LDW are that its going to be like 99 degrees, I wont enjoy being in the parks (well i can prob deal its DF that will probably hate it). We are also planning on going on an ABD Germany trip for abour 2 weeks in Sept. for the honeymoon. I am starting to think taking so many days off at work in one month might be a bad idea. (I am also trying to find a new job so it would be even worse). I wanted to be able to go a few days before the wedding to go to the parks with my family and stuff but I prob have to cut that out if I do LDW. And the threat of hurricanes ? ahhh
I guess I needed to vent and ask you ladies if you agree that MDW is not a good choice because of the maid situation and weather...DF and I have discussed that we will still do the Germany trip in September as our official honeymoon regardless of when the wedding is. I am freaking because the 1 year mark for MDW will be coming up in a few weeks so i would have to decide soon!
