I know this is a Disneyland board but this is where I post the most since I live in CA and am a Disneyland AP holder. But I just booked my rooms for our Disneyworld trip in November.

I have to say this trip has been such a roller coaster ride. We have only been to Florida twice. Once in 2002 and once in 2005. When we went in 02 I honestly thought it was a once in a lifetime deal but we loved it so much we knew we had to go back. Then we went for 2 whole weeks in 05 and were there over Halloween and went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween and were there for Food and Wine and we saw the beginnings of the holidays and knew we had to experience the holidays. That is my FAVORITE time of year at Disneyland and I knew I wanted to experience it at the world at least once.

So we decided back in 05 that we would try it in 08. We didn't want to ever go during a holiday cuz of crowds but my kids can't miss that much school so we are going over Thanksgiving. I know I know I am nuts but my kids get the whole week off school. So we are going the Thursday before to avoid some of the air travel mess hopefully and we are going to go to Islands of Adventure/Universal the first few days and I just booked the Doubletree and got a GREAT rate of only 80 bucks a night. We were going to try and stay at the onight hotels but they were almost 300/night and that is just WAY too much for just a room.

Then we are staying in a timeshare for the thanksgiving week and we will go to Candlelight procession while we are there and Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party as well as have our Thanksgiving meal at the parks (probably Epcot). So that should be an experience. And I will finally get to see the Osborne lights!! And then we have to be out of our timeshare that Saturday but I didn't want to fly home the weekend after thanksgiving cuz I know how bad the flight situation would be not to mention how expensive so we are staying over till that following monday and so we will check in to Pop Century.

I was able to get a room the first night through AAA for 95 and the second night for only 65!!!

So I am really stoked. We thought we were going to have to cancel the trip a month or so ago cuz of finances but we got a really big tax refund and then with the upcoming rebates we are set!

Anyway I just had to share my excitement cuz I didn't think it was going to happen and now this just makes it real since we started booking stuff. And since I had to pay for these rooms (and the doubletree is non-refundable) that makes it more of a definite that is going to happen! :)

Ahh, any Disney excitement is welcome on any area of the disboards!

You picked a great time to go to WDW, crowds or not. You should have some nice days before the hoards arrive on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. And the Candlelight Processional is truly magnificient as is MVMCP, the Osborne Lights and the decorations at the resorts. The monorail resorts in particular.

You will love Pop Century, I have stayed there twice, I love the values at WDW (and the mods and deluxes, well you get the idea ;) ) I hear you on the onsite Universal Hotels. They are so high in price. Given your timeframe, you should be fine, the only reason to stay there and pay that price is for the FOTL access, maybe you won't even need that so far in advance of the holiday crowds.

I am like you, I have an upcoming trip(s) to WDW but can't seem to leave the DL side of disboards lately. It was my first stomping ground here on the dis and it always feels like home.

Have a great time planning your trip, you will have so much fun! So glad it worked out for your family.:thumbsup2

I am soooooooo jealous!! We haven't done the world yet but it's on my list....that and the cruise! LOL

Oh wow! I'm excited for you too! We've only done DL and I keep thinking about WDW and then chickening out because I don't know it like I know DL and worrying about missing out on my beloved DL and missing that trip to MY place! We don't get to DL that often because of our distance so our trips there are longer.

So, tell me - did you feel that you missed DL when you visited WDW?

Thanks everyone!! I am getting excited finally. And Shawna I do have to say that yes I do miss Disneyland when I go even though I LOVE Disneyworld.

It is just different. Mostly because I like our Disneyland better than the Magic Kingdom. It doesn't have the same rides as our Disneyland and after I go I always want to go to Disneyland soon after cuz I feel like I have missed out on something LOL.

But if you have never gone you should because Disney World IS awesome. It is a whole other world literally and when you enter the property you are in a completely different universe. There is SO much to do and it is just neat. There are all the neat resorts to tour and wonderful restaurants and their DTD is bigger and has lots to see and do including a big lake in the middle.

It is just a HUGE neat place! You will love it!

That's why I want to go, because it's so different... but like you it's why I don't want to go. LOL I'm hoping we can do DW in the next year or two.

Have a great time and tell us all about it!!!! :)

Ohhh how fun! Congratulations!

We love going to WDW too (but like you do LOVE our Disneyland)....so many different things to do and try in the world. We've been there 3 times for 10 days each and STILL have yet to see it all. It's just so different. We got a good refund too so we're heading down in May.

Have a fabulous time!!! :goodvibes

Thanks Kim. Yeah this will be our 3rd time as well and first time at the holidays so I am excited yet nervous. The last two times we were very lucky with not too bad of crowds. This will be the first time at really high season although I am used to that kind of touring at Disneyland so we will just have to make good use of our fp's! We have not even come close to seeing it all either but now that I have been twice I definitely know what I can skip lol.

We now feel like we can do AK and MGM in one day but we usually do MK and Epcot in 2 and sometimes even 2 1/2 or 3 for epcot. We have yet to try the water parks or Cirque de Soleil or any of the other activities. But we did do IOA last time and will be doing that again. That was REALLY fun. We don't bother with Universal or Seaworld as that is pretty much like here and we did do Cape Canaveral last time as well and that was AWESOME! This time though we are going to be pretty much wrapped up with the holiday stuff and have less time. We were there 2 full weeks and this time only 11 but 2 of those are travel days so not quite as much time.

But we will squeeze in as much as we can. :)

Have a blast in May. That is the time of year we went the first time. Flower and Garden Festival. Beautiful but HOT!!!
