I watched a video. Looks like it’s not far. I’d guess 6 feet maybe? Could those of you who’ve ridden it weigh in? Traveling with H for my next trip, and the two things he can’t do are spin or go backwards. Sadly, slinky may be out for me as once I the h gets sick on a ride, it’s all over.

I haven’t see the h make himself sick backing out of the driveway, but I have seen him walk off a kiddie ride (seriously, we took his 2 year old nephew on it), head straight to a trash can, and lose his lunch. Won’t risk FEA, but the man can do Space Mountain. Weird.

I really do not like coasters that go backwards, Everest, Boomerangs, there is even a weird shuttle loop wooden coaster in Texas I didn't like because half of its done backwards. Slinky Dog does not go backwards for any significant period or at any significant distance. Most launch coasters back up on to the catch car, feels like backing up out of a parking space, very slow.

Hate launch coasters and riding backwards. The backup is nothing at all. It basically stops and rolls back
slightly and makes reving up sounds and shoots off (and not very fast - we were back car and it was not bad at all - I hate coasters). The ride was pretty fun. Nothing I would wait more than an hour for but am glad I did it. AS2 was pretty lame for us. Cute and glad I rode it once but no need to ever ride again

Does slinky go upside down? photo i saw looks like maybe 90 degrees but not full 180. i would try it but don't do upside down loops. mine train is about as "rollar coaster" as i get lol

This is not a "physical endurance" kind of coaster.

 I don't know why but this made me lol. In my mind I was thinking SDD was more like a 7DMT ?? Is is more than that?

People have been saying it's more intense and faster than 7dmt, with bigger dips than BTM but smoother.

But all 3 coasters here are kiddie coasters

I was on SDD on Saturday. First, it's awesome!! So much fun...as I mentioned in the other thread it's fast enough to be entertaining, but not too fast to scare you (at least not people who can do moderate coasters).

Yes, it backs up. However, it's a very slow and gentle backing up. Imagine backing out of a parking space at a store and that's about the same sensation. It's gentle, slow and not far at all...maybe 5 or 6 feet. I can't see it bothering anyone. Then it launches again, but even that isn't hard.

It's faster, in my subjective seat-of-the-pants feeling, than 7DMT, but not much. It has a moderate size hill, but you don't go over it all that fast. In the second section, after the back up and launch, you go over a series of small hills, and they are small. It's fun. No, it never comes close to going upside down. Again, just going from memory (and trying to take it all in), but I think the turns on 7DMT are more steeply banked than what SDD is. You lean sideways some, but nothing drastic.

It's nothing at all like EE or RnR, not even close. Even BTMRR isn't quite the same, as SDD is far smoother. Maybe the best way I can describe the "intensity" is imagine 7DMT going 10-20% faster and you'll get the idea. Even that may be debatable...the more I think about it, I think it may be about the same speed as when 7DMT is at its' fastest point. Either way, they're comparable.

Wow, great description!! Thanks. :-)

Agree with vicb! What a great description. We have a FP for SDD for our upcoming trip and I can’t tolerate any backward motion (the one and only time I rode EE it made me so sick I had to sit for 30 minutes and not move). After reading this description, I can’t wait to ride SDD. Thanks again!

Max speed on SDMT is 34 mph. Max speed on BTMRR is 36 and highest speed on SDD has yet to be shared by Disney. :)

If he has motion sickness, have him get a prescription for Scopalamine patches. I use them every time we go to WDW. They allow me to ride rides I couldn't ordinarily.
