Today has been a terribly sad and difficult day at my school (where I teach). One of our students, a wonderful, gifted and loving 18 year old boy died last night of what seems to be a massive heart attack while playing soccer.

I can not even imagine the pain his family is going through right now.

I had to tell some of his best friends and school mates this morning that he had died and it was so extremely difficult. Many of them had already found out, others hadn´t, but all of them were in shock. As are all of us.

His classmates were so incredibly strong. They put up a photo of him in a frame, lit candles and bought beautiful white flowers to have in their classroom. They also made a beautiful scrap book where which they put out in the hall for everyone to write their memories of him in, and will give it to his family. Such considerate and caring young people. Breaks my heart to see them have to deal with this.

I'm so sorry for your loss and the boy's family. I can't imagine the pain this has caused. Thinking of you and your community.:hug::hug:

Tragic. I can't imagine the grief of the parents.

My sympathies to all who knew and loved this young man.

That is awful. I will keep his family
in my prayers.

That is such a heart breaking story....
Hopefully we can prevent things like this happening in the future.....
Portable defibrillator's are a good start.

Apparently there was a defibrillator at the scene and was used. A doctor was there withing very few minutes and he was very close to an excellent hospital. They worked on him for over an hour but there were never any signs of him coming back.
