We had to cancel our trip to the world staying at BLT for Jan 2010. My kids school is having test that week and she can't miss them. Oh well life throws a curve ball.

any way, the help part

We looked at her schedule and it seems like she has the monday and tuesday off in feb for presidents day. so here comes the questions, how crazy is it at the world around that time?

would you go 02/10/2010 to 02/16/2010 or 02/14/2010 to 02/19/2010?

Does anyone know if there are schools with winter break then?

any help would be appreciated

I am sorry you have to change your trip. I have a friend from MN and they have been a few times over President's weekend. You will have crowds just like MLK weekend in Jan. Will it be spring break crowded NO. If you plan well....you should be fine. IF you could avoid that weekend then I would do that but if not HAVE FUN!!!!!

Most CT schools have either a couple of days off that week or the entire week off (our DS). We have done President's day week a number of times. It's crowded, but its not hot!!! beats the summer...

My friend said that it was busy but not unbearable by any means. I am sure with good planning (we use Tour Guide Mike for all of our trips) you will be fine.

Jersey week is usually the first week on November. Schools have off Thursday and Friday for teachers convention. It's a popular vacation week here in NJ and it seems the entire state is in Orlando!

We're going for that whole week. All the schools in Western NY have the week off, as far as I know. We get that week and one week in April.

Either of the weeks will be busy, but not crazy busy. It will not be like July or Easter/Christmas weeks. I would guess that the crowds will be busiest right around the weekend surrounding President's Day (we've visited in February, but earlier in the month) and afterward, so you could potentially have some days where it is not too bad at all. The first week might be better in that regard.

All of RI and MA have the week of President's week off. That is always our winter vacation week.

Out of those choices, flip a coin, although I think the starting 2/10 is maybe slightly preferable. 2/12-2/15 will be VERY busy at the parks. (We've gone at this time the last four years) Besides states that have long weekends, much of NY and MA have off 2/13-2/19. Flights from the Northeast are usually sold out the THursday before Pres day. I'd plan to miss school on the 9th instead of the 16th. We've found crowds comparable to Jersey Week.

Several counties in ga have vacation at that time. We were there this year for president's day/valentines day, and I won't lie, it was crazy enough that we won't do it again. In the past it was much better, we were stunned by the crowds this time.

I would say if you could find another time to go (not spring break), then take advantage of it, but if that's the only times you have, they're about the same in terms of crowd levels-reaallly crowded, at least in '09.

I would actually be surprised if there was availability at any of the dvc's for that time frame-we ended up staying at a hilton because we couldn't get anything .

Maine also has vacation 2/13 - 2/21. I understand it is quite busy. We are bringing both sets of grandparents and are just going to roll with it. Maybe spend a lot of time at the resort. Good luck.

Massachusetts has school vacation presidents day week

I always try to go the week ahead and it usually works out fine. The weekend tends to be more crowded then towards the end of the week. But I don't think the crowds are unmanagable with good planning. I avoid EMH and go to the park that just had it, get there at opening and basically hit all the e-ticket rides 1st. We also started using the single rider line at TT and EE and it worked out great even in the middle of the day.

I will be down Feb 5 -Feb 12

Last year we went during our April vacation (everyone I knew was heading to Disney)and the last part of Easter Week and it wasn't bad. I expected it to be much worst. Don't forget when the park gets busier it stays open later and not too many people can do the late nights and get up super early the next day.
