So Proud of my Mom....

she will be 82 on July 4th, and on Sunday, she is leaving home (PA) to spend two weeks in Mississippi to help rebuild a home that was damaged by Katrina! She is going with a group of people (most at least 20 years younger than her) from her church. She is one of the most selfless people I know, and will do anything she can to help people. She said she just felt in her heart that this was something that she needed to do! She was worried they would think having someone "old" along would be a burden, but they all have encouraged her, and know that she will find meaningful things to do to assist them in their efforts!

I only hope I have so much energy and drive when I am 82!!!

This means it will be longer until she comes to visit us in Florida though -

This is my mom! (P.S. - she still goes camping with friends... and sometimes she even sleeps in her own tent!!!)

How lucky you are to have such an incredible mom! My mom was still very active until 85, but then her health began to change. Celebrate each and every moment with her. She looks like such a wonderful woman.
