SO proud of DD!! *BRAG WARNING!*

i'm sorry everyone, i really can't control myself, lol, i've received notice today that my DD8 (2nd grade) qualifies for the gifted program at her elementary school-i meet w/ the county coordinator thursday to go over the details! as if that weren't exciting enough, she took a STAR reading test last week, and the report says her grade equivalent is 7.3 (this means she reads at the level of a seventh grader who's been in seventh grade 3 months) and her instructional reading level is 6.4 (this is the level at which she's at least 80% proficient at recognizing words and comprehending what she reads-sixth grade & 4 months)!! YAY for my DD! i'm so proud of her!

Hey, that's great! I was thrilled this year to have one at 5.9 on STAR. Next year, I'm getting one who supposedly reads at 6th grade level.........he hasn't been tested as his parents wouldn't allow it.

Congratulations to your daughter. Mine is also in 2nd grade and they too just took the STAR tests. We however won't receive the results until the end of the summer......... Are you saying you have the actual results already!!??

I am so amazed at how well my daughter reads and does basicially everything with no effort. A welcome change from my 5th grads son.....

i'm sorry i don't know the actual date she took the test, all i have is the date the report was generated-5/11/06. based on your post, i'd have to conclude she actually took the test at least 2 months ago. i do know they took DIBELS tests april 27, 28 & may 1, but we haven't received a report on those yet, and may not until the new school year starts in august.
