So now where are families of 5 supposed to stay??

I know that POR is only closing parts of the resort at a time, but it still will have an impact on our vacation in September (recent posts mention construction noise, limited food court options, etc.). What other choices are there for a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 Jrs, 1 child)?? I guess we could stretch the budget for a deluxe suite, but we like to spend our $$ on other things. And we don't relish having to stay offsite. Is our only choice really two rooms at AllStars? Besides value resorts, is there any other option?

Check to see if there are any codes for the garden wing rooms at the Contemporary - it is usually about the same price as two rooms at the All-Stars, and the rooms are huge!

We are also a family of 5, same as yours. When you go up to the deluxe resorts - you get two queen size beds, as well as a regular twin sized day bed. My 14 year old sleeps on the daybed, and my 12 year old (5 ft. 8 in and still growing) and my 6 year old daughters share one queen bed and Daddy and I get the other - works great for us! There is a lot more room in these rooms than in the POR rooms! Luckily, the one bathroom hasn't been an issue - even with two teenaged daughters.

We are going on a school trip to the TSA conference next month - so we will be trying out the All-Star Music for the first time. No choices - the state advisor made all the travel arrangements. (Our 6 year old isn't coming with us). My DH is NOT amused - he would much rather stay at the CR.

Hope you find someplace magical to stay for your trip!

Well, there are the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. They sleep 6, but the pools are not that great (no themed pool) and it's somewhat tricky using the buses so a car here may be the way to go. Also, they allow 5 at the Dolphin and probably the Swan too. You would need to pay for a rollaway bed (25.00 per night, I think), or we always bring an air bed for my 16 year old who won't share a bed with anyone. Much better location here and really nice pools and better transportation. You can probably still get the 139.00 a night deal for September.

That's my 2 cents!

You can get a rollaway at CB or Coronado for $15 per night. That is probably a lot cheaper than getting two rooms or moving up to a deluxe. Make sure you request it on your reservation before you go, so they know that you need it. Keep in mind you would have had to pay that fee anyway at either side of Port, as they are supposed to charge for the use of the trundle bed, so you're really not saving on anything.

I was told you could not do a cot or rollaway at the resorts to accomodate five only a pack-n-play crib for those under 3. That being said- you might just have to go deluxe- I called for late September and POR has NO rooms available regardless of the construction. So here's where you can stay besides the obvious 2BR at some villas and renting 2 rooms at value or moderates...
Polynesian, Contemporary, Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Grand Floridian and there are suites at AKL/WL that will hold five but are generally much more $$$ than those listed above. Lots of people find good deals renting points and staying at Old Key West or Boardwalk Villas or even Wilderness Lodge Villas through the DVC board also on this site. You might want to check that out.
Good luck!

The Dolphin can accomodate families for 5 with a rollaway bed. We (5 of us) are off there in October, we found that it came up a bit more rasonably priced than the other deluxe Disney hotels and I gather the location is superb!
Hope this helps!

We stayed at the CR Garden Wing - it had 2 queen size beds and a roll out couch of some type for a 5th person - the room was 436 square feet - thus a decent size as well

Not sure if this would work but it is a sanctioned 5 person location - in May trip, the code rate AEF made the room $164 a night

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I've been trying to price out a FTP through Disney.com site, but they must be having difficulties because I can't get a package to go through. I'm interested in pricing out either the Poly or BC. Really love POR though.....we really enjoy taking the boat ride from DD after a long day at the parks. I'd also like to check out either the Swan or Dolphin....DH is a gov't employee so we could get the discount there. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.....
