So now that BOG looks like it wont happen..Plan B?

I live in CA and woke up at 3am on my 180th day and still couldn't get an ADR for BOG....bummer. Anyways, I'm going to keep trying but need a Plan B for the extra table service. I'll be with my DD and we want to character dining. So far I have an ADR for Cinderella's Happily Ever After, Ohana with Lilo and Stitch, Winnie the Pooh and Friends at the Crystal Palace, Donald and Friends at Tusker House, and Cinderella's Royal Table.

For my backup I'm thinking either Disney Junior Pals at the Hollywood and Vine, the Princess thing at Akershus Royal Banquet, or Chef Mickeys. Which one is better in terms of food and character experience?

My family prefers 1) Chef Mickey's (dinner), 2) Akershus (breakfast, to get into Epcot early), and 3) Cape May breakfast (good food, relaxed character interaction). Hopefully you won't need the backup, once BOG magically reappears... Here's some pixie dust for both of us .

IMHO, as far as food IMHO I don't think any of them are too good, mediocre at best. Character interaction may be a little different. You're talking about very different characters at each restaurant. You're already doing a princess meal at CRT, even though they may vary a bit from CRT, Akershus is pretty similar unless you are princess fans.

H&V will have your Disney Channel shows' characters which are not easy to come by anywhere else.

CM will have your standard Mickey, Minnie & friends which are usually available in most of the parks for character meet & greets...so that all being said.

You probably need to decide on which characters you like the most. As far as food goes they're pretty much in the same category.

If you are looking for character dining only (keep in mind BOG is NOT character dining anyway)... have you considered Cape May at the BC? It's a good character breakfast (nice interaction and good food).

Also GG for dinner (Epcot) is a good character meal with both good character interaction as well as good food and it's served family style so you can relax a bit.

I like Garden Grill for something different. I would do that instead of Chef Mickey's, for sure, if you're looking for another Mickey meal.

Have faith and keep trying for BoG. There is some system glitch or intentional withholding of ADR availability for BOG (At least for August). I have been told by multiple CM's at the Dining Line and also at DVC Member Services that there are very few or no ADR's booked for our time frame. We have been told each call to keep checking back for them to open the slots.

Two things:

1. Don't rule out a walk-up. Crazy as it sounds, I spoke with several people on our last trip that managed to get in as a walk-up without an obnoxious wait. Our waitress suggested it as well one night when we told her we wanted to come back every night.

2. My cousin was calling today to try to get reservations at the 180 day mark and was advised that reservations for BOG were not open for that week yet for some reason, but to keep trying.

Also if you are making your reservation for an odd amount say 3, 5, 7 for some reason these are not being identified. People are having better luck make reservations for even numbers.
