We are going to Orlando in April and going on a 4 day cruise. We are driving so that will take up a day on each end. We are also going to Seaworld. So here is the schedule we KNOW will happen:

Thurs: Arrival (maybe???)
Fri: Seaworld
Sat: DTD and hang out at resort pool etc...
Sun: Cruise
Mon: Cruise
Tues: Cruise
Wed: Cruise
Thurs: off cruise and back to Orlando
Fri: Drive home

So here is my delimma, DH can't take any more days off of work than is reflected above. We really wanted to get in a few days of WDW time but he really doesn't have the time to take off of work. And if we try to "squeeze it in", it would be so rushed it probably wouldn't be much fun anyway.

What we have here is a GREAT vacation and will be tons of fun. BUT my kids ages 12 and 7 haven't been to WDW in over a year, and if we don't go on this trip they probably wont' get to go for another year.

So the alternative is that I could, maybe, possibly drive down with my girls myself earlier in the week and spend a few days at WDW. Then DH could get a cheap one way fare to come down Thursday night and join us for the "original" plan. He doesn't really care if we go without him, he is just concerned about me driving by myself. The girls are on Spring Break so that won't be a concern if we go early.

So I am trying to decide if I am being rational or just emotional cause I WANT to go. I WANNA, WANNA, WANNA! :teeth: It seems like such a shame to go all the way to Orlando and not take advantage of some time to go to WDW. We will/have to be there anyway. But 2 weeks of vacation seems so indulgent. And I am afraid we will be exhausted and sick of each other after all that fun and family togetherness :)

Oh, and we already have WDW tix left over and the cost of the value resort is not a big deal for the few extra days I would add if I go early and we eat cheap, so it is not really a money issue except that it is really cheaper overall to just add the days now than to try to make ANOTHER trip down there later.

Well, that was a lot of rambling. What do you all think? Stick to the original super fun plan, or add a few more days with just me and the kids at WDW making it a 2 week vacation?

Hi, Well if you are a GOOD driver and do not mind driving on your own....I say DO IT!! A few years ago my oldest DS could not leave on vacation with us (due to a school extra curricular on a Sat.) My DH volunteered to stay behind with him and I left for WDW with my younger DS. Well my DS and I had a BLAST just the two of us before my older DS and my DH joined us. We had a GREAT family vacation also. Good Luck! Joan

The idea of driving about 12 hours with the girls on my own makes me a bit nervous, but I have done it before to drive to Chicago for a family emergency. I have a GPS and I think I would be okay.

I have done a week with just me and the girls before, but we flew. And I might be in an ECV so that could make things a bit more complicated. My girls are very well behaved but it is hard to manuveur and keep up with 2 kids and it will be crowded then.

But I WANNA, WANNA, WANNA, WANNA! :teeth: But I still wonder if I am being unreasonabe and selfish.

Good luck on making this hard decision. I am debating almost the same thing. DH has to go to Orlando on the last Sat in July. The boys and I are going with him but he is not staying near Disney.:headache: He says that we can go to Disney on Wed. and stay until the next Wed. I offered to let him fly and drive up to meet him later in the week, he said to go without him and just stay from Sat. until Sat. :confused3

I hope that you and I both make the right choice. Whatever we choose, we are going to have a blast!!!:rotfl:

Yep, I think that is why this is such a hard decision. I know we will have a absolutely great time without adding the extra.

I have now talked to my 2 girls and explained to them that we have we decided no WDW and told them why and how much fun we will have anyway. I didn't tell them about the other option. I wanted to just see how disappointed they would be with no WDW.

Know what?

They are perfectly fine with it! :faint: They think it all sounds great and love that they will have time to hang out at the hotel pool and and be able to be relaxed.

So now the decision is really just up to me. :headache:
